World Cup Day 2 - England/Iran, Senegal/Netherlands

Featured Replies

Shaw is LB and in good form.  Clinical cross to Bellingham for the opener.   England will be looking to crush us for a number of reasons including being able to rest guys against Wales.

Can someone give Landon a drink or a personality.

Iran really needs work on their crest. It’s embarrassingly out of place alongside the English, Senegalese, and Dutch crests in the OP.

I'm hoping for 2 points going into Iran.

But I think we can beat Wales.

I kind of enjoy how little he speaks.  The less color man, the better.

I was shocked that ESPN’s U23 list didn’t have Saka as the pick (it was Bellingham). Granted he’s already established, but he’s really good.

Fucking Pickford. Letting Iran score?!?!?

That too

Amazing the talent on England with those three subs being shown.

I can’t imagine defending for 70 mins and then having to track Foden around.

Damn that was easy by Rashford.

God - the it’s coming home shit is going to start getting insufferable.

absolutely intimidated how loaded England is, except for maguire at the 5 lol

Perfectly on display there, just brought in wholesale changes, and it was ANOTHER group of first team talent. And they just scored.

Foden, Grealish and Rashford off the bench isn’t fair.

Well that got him subbed off, likely never to see the field again.

Dier isn't much better as evidenced by that Taremi getting behind him

I mean Taremi can fucking play. He's better than any of our 9s unfortunately.

Per the Guardian:

79 min: The official attendance of this match is 45,334. The stadium has a 68,000 capacity. Oh Fifa.

Good! Fuck them!

Queiroz should be fired after the game. this is embarrassing

This is like someone who's played a bunch of FIFA 23 against somebody who just got his X Box today.

Ohhhh shit we get Kate Abdo on pregame?

jizz in my pants GIF

I’m happy England has to play 24 extra minutes in this heat.

This is the best English side that I have ever watched. Football has a good chance of coming home finally.

That's going to be another embarrassment for these games. The attendance is going to be terrible and it's going to be followed up by the US in 2026 where we smoke all the attendance records, that we set in 1994!

Agreed and agreed.

Iran is just a 2 hour flight from Qatar. The rial has devalued to be like 300,000 to $1 but they still represented with a good number of fans. Think about the attendance you’ll see for games involving a team like Ecuador when they don’t play the host.

Definitely important for those who have goals over +7.5.

Well looks like there are going to be a shitload of penalty kicks this WC.

Good. I hope this is a total failure from an operational stand point. Would like the matches to be strong, but everything else can fuck off.

Going to agree with Landon and say that the #5 team in FIFA rankings who just won their first game 6-2 is one of the favorites now.

The team is absolutely stacked. But they still have Southgate as their coach and as much as the US fans bitch about Beerholder, given what he has, he is much worse.

Still, as assembled, they made the final of Euro last year, so you never know.

Oh shit - Mendy! Wasn't thinking about that.

Unfortunately Senegal also has Kouliably on the team.

This is a big test out of the gate for ze Dutch.

Dammit, I zoned out after the 1st game and forgot to switch channels.  It's not that I missed anything, but I was forced to endure 15 seconds of Skip Bayless before figuring it out.

LOL someone in the office saw the Netherlands line up and asked where Arjen Robben is.

Me: um, you do realize he retired right? He's almost 50 years old....

I mean he's 38.

I was surprised Bergkamp didn't get the call up.
