November 30, 20223 yr i've heard about this for a while, but wasn't sure how they would play with the tone to make it work. get in line lol.
November 30, 20223 yr I was gonna ask how on earth I ever missed the original true story of cocaine bear, but looked it up and it was in 1985. I'm pretty sure I'll see this, lol!
November 30, 20223 yr Should have made the cartoon bear look like the Annihilation bear or gone the other way and made it look like Yogi. As is, I'm out.
November 30, 20223 yr Didn't get a real good look at all the production design, but you could pretty well tell this was mid-80's/peak bolivian marching powder. From the Duran Duran song to the ambulance van to the camping gear. I'm sure there'll be some anachronisms, but this looks spot on.
November 30, 20223 yr Pretty sure there are enough guns and gun owners in rural America to take out a crazy bear.

November 30, 20223 yr Author Spotted the late great Ray Liotta, so they must have been sitting on this a while.
November 30, 20223 yr The only way to do a movie like this is to just go way over the top....and they seem to have done just that. Yeah, I'll watch this.

December 1, 20223 yr From Wikipedia: Quote The film is inspired by the real story of a 175-pound American black bear that died after ingesting a duffel bag full of cocaine in December 1985. The cocaine was dropped out of an airplane piloted by Andrew C. Thornton II, a former narcotics officer and convicted drug smuggler, because his plane was carrying too heavy a load. Thornton then jumped off the plane with a faulty parachute and died. The bear was found three months later in the north of the state of Georgiaalongside 40 opened plastic containers of cocaine.[2][3] The bear is currently on display at the Kentucky for Kentucky Fun Mall in Lexington, Kentucky, US.[4]"Cocaine Bear" was coined by Kentucky for Kentucky in 2015.[5]

So it took them 30 years to come up with the name "Cocaine Bear," for a bear that ate a bunch of cocaine?

This is the Melle Mel orginal from Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five. And this looks awesome.
December 1, 20223 yr Yeah well, while locked in a bathroom with the bear…he said it was a Duran Duran original. And you never argue with the bear holding.

February 24, 20232 yr Quote HOLLYWOOD—Rushing to gather as much footage as they could piece together from what was already available on the internet, panicked producers of the film Cocaine Bear were scrambling Friday to expand four minutes of social media clips into an actual movie. “Shit, we didn’t think anyone was actually going to expect an entire feature film version of the six or seven clips that are on Twitter and Facebook,” said producer Elizabeth Banks, doing her best to remain composed as she used the same clip of the bear looking angry multiple times to create several more minutes of a final cut. “If I put all the scenes of the bear chasing Keri Russell and the other cast members in slow-mo, that will probably get us to about 15 or 20 minutes. Damn, I’m just going to have to loop the clip of the bear attacking that guy a bunch of times and hope nobody notices.” At press time, Banks was frantically putting the finishing touches on an extended 45-minute credits sequence for the film’s release this weekend. https://www.theonion.com/panicked-cocaine-bear-producers-scrambling-to-expand-1850156434
