The same.  Tarrant County Convention Center.  Max Webster opened.

Max Webster/Kim Mitchell was solid IMO……and Gary Mccracken was a beast of a rock drummer

“THEY DON’T CALL ME DR. HOOK FOR NOTHING!”

Lol. That is a great hockey name

I absolutely don't get why people rank Vapor Trails so consistently low. The back half of that album, from the title track on, is some of the strongest stuff they've ever made. Plus, I love "One Little Victory" and "Earthshine." Especially the Remixed version, which in my mind saved the album; cleaned it up without losing the original's edge.

But then, I agree with Peart that Counterparts might actually be their best work -- or no worse than second behind Hemispheres. Moving Pictures rounds out my top three. But I've probably spent more hours listening to Vapor Trails and Counterparts than any other albums.

Just killer

Not a huge Rush fan but Moving Pictures came out out at the perfect time to be one of those albums that takes me to a different time. Throw in Spirit of Radio and Freewill and, on a good day, Fly by Night, and I’m good to go.

Apropos of nothing much other than I am too damned old, I missed the original airing of the MASH finale to see them at Reunion Arena. And to fuck a girl I’d worked with the summer before.

If Geddy and Alex ever started another project, I think he would be a really good choice on drums.

Don’t know how Geddy did the vocals to this live while playing.

This seems like a good thread to visit. :)

I’ll put that Tyler Warren YouTube up sometimes on one of my monitors while working and listen and glance over from time to time.

It’s mindblowing.  It’s not just that he tackled one of their more difficult albums (if that can be a thing).

It’s not just that he can play and sing everything like it was on the album.

He even nailed the production quality.  The tones. The mix.  So close on synth settings.  All of it.

Wnen I first found this video I shared it with some old friends from my teens. A couple of them still play in bands today. They just never stopped.  Only one of my friends is a huge Rush fan. But the others have come back in recent years and commented again on this video.  They revisit and now they suggest tunes for me to try and learn.  They bend the knee to Tyler’s talent and commitment.

Yeah, all of this.

He’s also got some pretty good Queen vids as well.

Username checks out.

I've had Spirit of Radio stuck in my head for two days after watching that video.

Highly recommend The Rush Tribute Project if they come to your area. Maybe the best Tribute band you may see.

That was excellent!  Thanks for sharing!

I’m a big fan of YYNOT.  They are really good.  The bassist and guitarist both nail the tones of Geddy and Alex so well.

caught them at RR a few times........

That’s the same All-Star Game where James Earl Jones recited the lyrics to The Star Spangled Banner while a band played it and he screwed it up a tiny bit.

Well this stinks for Alex.  Commenters are saying broken string but I'm not seeing it

Looks like he's trying to get a string to go back into the nut slot at one point?

As mentioned on the Beato thread, this is an important step to getting Alex and Geddy in a room with Rick.

I’m gonna look like Randy Marsh in the Internet tent when that happens.

I’m happy for them - they have quite a bit juice yet and this is what they do.

I’m also very happy for all us fans.

Do not know the drummer at all but love the choice for multiple reasons - young, hungry, fresh talent is a good addition. She’s got some different influences and her playing is really crisp, technical, but not show-y. Should be fun.

Sounds like they’ll be adding a keyboardist, and changing up the setlist. I’m stoked. Now just have to decide where to see them…

Currently in Texas it’s Ft. Worth.

Wait, can’t watch the video right now but are you saying rush is going to tour with some new drummer?

Yes, a younger German drummer. She was born a year after Signals came out.

Yes.  I've been watching her vids for a while.  Toured with Jeff Beck as well.

This should be cool.  She has a much deeper groove than Peart, it will change their sound quite a bit.  I hope the fans keep an open mind, she seems stellar.

I haven't seen Rush since the "Moving Pictures" tour.  I might seek this out.  This is exciting.

Damn. Ok. Not sure I could think of another job where one’s performance would be nitpicked more than that. Maybe if Van Halen hired a replacement.

But cool though.

Little clip of her that was posted on the Beato thread a while back.

They pre-announced during an interview at the RRHOF last night. Nice interview. you can tell there are a lot of emotions here.

She is clearly a world class player.  I can't wait to hear this.  When tickets are announced, somebody bump this thread, I'm making the trip to somewhere.
