January 26Jan 26 Author BMW GTD pro car shoves a porsche GTP, which was fighting with a BMW GTP, off going into the bus stop, race control penalizes the porsche for shortcutting the chicane, moving the BMW GTP into 2nd overall Edited January 26Jan 26 by elfenix
January 26Jan 26 Couple of race thoughts. Race director should have issued a stop and hold for the BMW 1. It is obvious he would have benefitted from the BMW 48's blocking on Milner. On the sly, I would have got word to Milner do what you want with the 48. Winward Racing 57 car deserves some of grit/resolve award for overcoming early race problems and to come back and get in the hunt. Coolness award to the landscaping crew for the Harley J. Earl image in the infield grass bordering the track. BTW, that is supposedly a prototype Firebird concept from Earl. The Chicane entrance will need more definition before next year's race to stop the "grey" area of did or didn't the driver get an advantage. Food for thought, I hope I explain this clearly. Under the current format the only way any other class than GTP can win the overall is if all the GTP cars crash out. So, what would happen if? Let's say this year the overall winner wins by 1 hour. GTD Pro second by 15 min, LMP2 third by 30, and GTD last by 45 minutes. So, next year GTD starts at 2:00, at 2:15 LMP2 cars take the track, at 2:30 GTD Pro joins the fight, and finally the GTP cars come on at 2:45. By staggering the start times all class "should/could" finish at near the same time. Thus, giving the little guys, a chance at the overall win. One drawback of course is the matter of time. The actual faster car will be on the track for less overall time. I used an hour simply because it made the explanation easier, but I'm sure it would never be an exact hour. And the start times would be much closer in reality. Roast my idea or recommend me for some honor. Preferably one with money involved. Edited January 26Jan 26 by Bevo&Pevo
January 26Jan 26 Author another FCY with a bit under an hour to go, restart probably with less than 45 to go, this is going to be amazing.
January 26Jan 26 LMP2 is most likely sewn up with a 45+ lead at this point. The other classes are still wide open.

January 26Jan 26 3 of the 4 classes finished within 2 seconds of each other, can't ask for more than that. Both Corvette teams had penalties overnight and might have been the difference. Although, their speed was nonexistent. Strategy and reliability were key to the 2nd place finish. Good race. Race coverage...meh.

February 1Feb 1 I'll never understand why people do that shit at the beginning of an endurance race. I'll bet the mechanics don't understand it either. Crazy. The cream will rise to the top in a race like that - if you give it a chance and don't fuck it up by stupidly running into someone.

February 10Feb 10 Finally got around to watching the Bathurst event completely. I thought it was pretty darn interesting. If that track was a lane wider there would be plenty of opportunities to pass. BTW, during non-racing times the road is open to the public. BMWs just plain outsmarted the field for the overall. Great finish, great race, and great track will watch this series again. Thanks for the link.

Great finish, great race, and great track will watch this series again. Thanks for the link. Unfortunately IGTC doesn't have that many events, and the two 24 hour races are back to back with the Nurburgring 24 and the 24 Hours of Spa on June 19-22 and 26-29. I think that's mostly because the big GT3 teams (like WRT) are busy running in WEC and IMSA, so there's not a lot of slots on the calendar. Bathhurst, Spa, and Indianapolis are each the crown jewel races of their respective continental SRO GT3 series, GT World Challenge Australia, Europe, and Americas (coming to CoTA May 17-19) respectively. Between those three championships there's a ton of GT3 racing available on youtube practically year round, though. Edited February 14Feb 14 by elfenix

March 13Mar 13 Author Genesis LMDh to be powered by doubling up Hyundai's WRC I4: Quote Anyone who knows about engines will appreciate that we only had six months to develop a complete engine. We elected to go with a V-8, precisely because the V-8 was a great opportunity not to have to redesign a complete engine from scratch and instead take inspiration from our [Hyundai Motor Group's] existing WRC [World Rally Championship] engine, a very competitive 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four that we've been using for several years. We took that engine and made it two times four in line, which gives us a V-8. Read More: https://www.jalopnik.com/1808260/genesis-lemans-v8-hypercar-engine-details/
