June 14, 20187 yr Does anyone have a good source for real-time information on the San Juan wildfire near Durango and other wildfires in Colorado? Snowpack in southern Colorado was about 50 % normal and rivers are running at August levels. If they don't start getting some rain soon this could get bad. Heading up there in July and want to make sure I know what I am getting myself into.
June 14, 20187 yr They closed the San Juan two days ago for the summer do to the high fire danger. There are closures all over southern Colorado right now and it seams to be getting worse. I've booked a trip in July for Pagosa / Durango and I'm rethinking this as it was to explore a lot of the trails in that area.
June 14, 20187 yr Sucks. Love that area. The other fire thread didn't look good. I hope they get some rain from that hurricane
June 14, 20187 yr Hits close to home as we are headed there in July as well. Crested Butte, Durango, and Grand Junction are all planned. Come on Mother Nature, give it up.
June 15, 20187 yr Posted this link over on the 2018 Fire Season thread on Daily Texan. It'll give you updates on all of the current wildfires. Updated at least once daily. https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/
June 16, 20187 yr I lived there a year ago and would say there are still plenty of places to explore that aren't impacted by this. At this point, I wouldn't steer clear as monsoon is about to begin. Yes, rafting might not be quite as exciting but depends on where you go.
