Armored humvee stolen from US Army Reserve Center - San Marcos TX

Featured Replies

Not only have they not found it, they don’t know when exactly it was stolen. I don’t get how that’s even possible. @Beau Vine if you see it driving around be sure to tell the army.

An armored Humvee was stolen late last month from the US Army Reserve Center in San Marcos, police officials confirmed late Tuesday.

The up-armored Humvee, which includes a gun turret, was taken from the vehicle depot at 2850 Leah Avenue sometime between the evening of November 22 and the morning of November 28 after a suspect or suspects entered a fenced-in area.

The Humvee does not have any weapons or sensitive electronics inside of it, an SMPD spokeswoman said via email Tuesday night.

SMPD shared images of a similar equipped and colored Humvee, a multipurpose military vehicle with a starting value of around $160,000.

Vehicle number ‘399 TPC A1-6′ is displayed on the front and rear bumper, officials said.

Let me tell you about Reservists and the National Guard…..

Actually I’m  surprised there were no security cameras, but sounds like the expensive/classified stuff was locked up.  I expect this kind of thing back in the 90s though. Plenty of inside theft.

Any bachelor parties that got a little out of hand that weekend?  Any missing tigers in the area?

Hard to spot the Humvee, even in San Marcos."

"you mean, 'cause it was painted in camo?"

No, they supposedly put a ZTA sticker on the back window...now it'll just totally fucking blend in.

Why’s there not some kind of LoJack on that thing?

why aren't military vehicles broadcasting their locations on the internet?

Up-armored Humvees are shitboxes.  Joke's on the thief.

I mean it’s not like it’s active duty. It literally says it has no weaponry and no tech. When it’s sitting in a fence why not have a way to make sure it doesn’t get stolen.

Just remove the battery.

OK, back in the 90s...

[what follows is fiction written in the first person]

I was in the Nat'l Guard. Had been a 19D Cav Scout, moved to a new state and they needed dudes in the motor pool, so I joined the motor pool. Learned how to work on Humvees and also learned the details of motor pool clerk-work.

As a side-hustle, Nat'l Guard style, I worked as Opposing Force, OPFOR, ie pretend to be the enemy for training exercises and get paid for it.

So one day, as OPFOR, this fucking idiot lieutenant decided to throw a grenade simulator in my hole to "wake me up." My ass was already awake, and I took note of which Humvee this fucking idiot lieutenant was driving.

So early in the morning, I strolled into motor pool, and did this thing I'd learned as a sometime Motor Pool Clerk, where a third person, usually a flunky, signs for the officer's vehicle, as in, flunky mode, to fetch it for him. I wrote in his name, and scrawled my own unintelligibly.

Then I crawled up in his Humvee, let the glow plug warm up, cranked it up, and tooled west about a mile in a deserted part of the base where I turned down a side road, and parked that bitch.

For about a week.

I saw his fucking idiot ass walking around for about a week, puzzled look on his face.

After that, me and a buddy went and got it, dropped it off near the motor pool. Thumped some keys on the desk and bopped off with no paperwork.

"Who left the keys in the gotdam hummer?"

"Sir, they don't have keys..."

There should have been a metal cable secured by a lock to keep the steering wheel from turning, which would probably inconvenience a thief for a few minutes.

That would be anything made by British Leyland.

So true.

England: "We can have 5,000 armored vehicles from Leyland on the beachhead within a month."

Allies: "You know what?  We're good.  All set.  Just gonna use horses, thanks though."

Always found it amusing that a people of such substance and quality that are so ugly on the outside make the most beautiful vehicles that are absolute shitshows under the hood.

Surely it’s some militia gathering equipment for their liberation of ‘Merica.

At least, that’s my hope.

And end up at South Austin's Mom's house?

LOL, they better have a good mechanic on hand at all times.

And a motor pool that is well stocked and resupplied.

As someone that bought a surplus one a few years ago, do yourself a favor and don’t.

Well, as an old out dated prone to breakdown piece of shit like myself...I figured we'd be a perfect fit...

Dude, LARPers are usually pretty good with mechanical things.   They just can't fix their diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Didn't really see it addressed on this thread by our resident experts...was the .50 accounted for?  I'm sure, like me wishfully sans belt at junior prom, but what's the cupola story>  ?

Any weapons would have been locked away in the armory inside.

Yes, but what this missing AV suggests is what a couple of soldiers took the .50 cal to get it washed as well?

Doesn't matter if they got it washed, waxed and had a shave.   Ammo is stored separately from the weapons.
