According to records from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Texas men’s basketball coach Chris Beard was arrested early Monday morning at 4:18 a.m. in Austin for “Assault on a family/household member.” He also apparently was preventing the victim from breathing. Beard was booked with a third degree felony.

Well that's not good.  Sounds like we may be looking for a new coach.

Welp.  It was fun while it lasted.   Fucking hell.  43AD7C52-4716-495C-8D13-CF7B1FF06D32.gif.32a7e2e893d928187a0e5f975266fbd6.gif

Cause fuck everything.

can someone post that article where I can read.  it is black on my screen.

Let the facts play out but this looks like it could be a s@&$ show of epic proportions.

Must’ve put beans in his chili or shaken his beer.

Nah he won't get fired for 1 offense with a top 10 team in the country.

He needs to be in therapy and get help for whatever issue caused him to get violent. Whether it's alcohol, anger management, maybe needs to get divorced, or whatever it is.

This just fucking sucks.

Dude.

He's so fucking gone.

If this was Sark, he’d be fired at 4:19am by the fans. Don’t become the “we’re elite with him, so we shouldn’t fire him” type of crowd. We ain’t SEC yet

Uh, if he choked someone, he's fired.

What year are you living in? He could survive a .20 DUI. But, if he touched a woman in violence, he's gone.

Well he’s fired. Good riddance if reports are true.

Any good coaches on the market

I’ll let the facts play out, but if it turns out to be true it absolutely merits firing. Doesn’t matter if it’s “only” a first offense.

UT is going to have a statement this morning.  Assuming Terry will assume responsibility for the program for the rest of the year and the recruits that signed their LOIs will be released.

If true he’s gone and he should be, you smug dismissive child.

So who's interim? And the only way he's not fired is if there's absolutely no truth to the accusation, which is about 0.05% likely.

FYI in “Family member” in the charge description means “known” and not necessarily family. Of course it can also mean family.

Welp... It was a fun 18 months or so.

I would assume the addition of "household" means that person lives at his house?  Or is that just boilerplate (ambiguous) language?

He's done.

Not only at Texas, but his career is over.

We can’t have nice things

Maybe he roughed up his butler?

Oh yeah let’s do the thing where we give a pass to something we enthusiastically look down on OU or aggy for.

I’m all for a suspension in the short term as details come to light, but if the answer to “did he assault a family member, including strangulation?” is not 100% “no,” then he’s got to go.

Even if this was a situation where he lost his temper momentarily and struck someone, he should be fired.

This is strangulation. That is intent. This is not just a fireable offense, this man should never get a coaching job again. You cannot be a leader of young men with this kind of arrest.

The only circumstance that could possibly absolve him was that he was strangling someone who was threatening him and his family with a weapon. Unless that’s the case, Beard needs some serious help and needs to be out of basketball permanently.

I hear 10 games into the season is a great time to begin a coaching search. Can anyone confirm?

At a home? Not his home? Does he even live in Tarrytown?

Let the facts play out. It could be he found out a family member was molesting his daughter or had in the past and went off. May not even be his wife. We'll see what happens

I'm sure Bobby Knight strangled people along the way. Y'all calm down.

Or if the wife was into choking and this is all a misunderstanding...

This place is overreaction central. We don't know any facts of the case and this jabroni is saying his career is over.

Aren't a lot of you lawyers? Shit I'd hate to be your client if you act like this.

Has anybody made a beard version of the “I fucked up” gif yet

Shut the fuck up. He’s not going to be coaching here charged with a felony assault. He won’t be coaching anywhere
