The same media members who kept saying we had to fire Beard and hire Terry are now praising Beard. Nary a mention of what happened last December

"Oh the optics, oh the optics".  It will likely never be mentioned again by the media except in saying that is why Texas fired him, charges dropped.  I'm sure it is affecting his recruiting, right?

wonder if aggy had some pics of Beard in the jumpsuit.

aggy is 12-8 (3-4) so how is it a huge win?

kenpom now projects ole miss to go 22-9 (9-9) which has them in the tourney. making the tourney in year one with that program would be a huge deal. big time recruiting boost, and further proof that Beard is one of the great coaches working today. they are way ahead of schedule as of today.

Kind of wish this thread didn't exist because Beard IS going to excel in Oxford and it's just going to be salt in our wounds every time Ole Miss does something good.

Terribly unfair situation. Beard and his lady caught in a domestic scrape. She likely gets a sizable settlement to amend her statement. Beard walks and spends a couple of seasons in purgatory (not ideal for him but he's still going to make millions).

And the University of Texas men's basketball team gets knocked back to the Dark Ages, i.e., UT gets the worst of it despite not doing anything wrong and, in the eyes of many, doing the right thing.

Just fucking sucks.

Yup. It’s like taking Vanderbilt to the CFP (kinda)

just wait for all the recruits we get because we can tell them we did the right thing and all those other heathen schools never would have done that.

Ok this is overstating it a bit

Also, thread title can continue to go fuck itself.

No shit. The new thread title should be something like “Chris Beard: The way we were” or “Chris Beard: Could have been us”.

“Third thread about a former coach at Texas bc we can’t let things go”

or “piece of shit and alleged woman beater, and confirmed asshole who fucked over Texas, Beard coaches at Ole Miss”

There is nothing that sucks about having integrity.

ah yes, the very purpose of internet message boards: judging others and claiming moral superiority, then congregating to congratulate one another on our class-leading moral standards.

if chris beard was an actual abusive POS who was actually abusing his gf, as opposed to the exact opposite of that being the case, then firing him immediately would have been a no-brainer, and the right thing to do. in reality, we fired a generational, possibly once-in-program-history level head coach for being too stupid to break things off with his drunken, abusive girlfriend before it came back to bite him in the ass. oh how integrous of the Unuversity! let’s all pat ourselves on the back and hang the banner for the Integrity National Championship after Houston beats us by 20 in our own building tomorrow!

if instead of Randi Trew and Chris Beard it was Randy Trew and Kris Beard then ESPN would probably be producing a 30 for 30 on Kris Beard, the women’s basketball coach who had the courage to finally fight back. that’s how stupid all of this is.

I can't really pat myself on the back for anything as I had nothing to do with Beard being fired.

that hasn’t stopped the denizens of this board from sharing pos rep circle jerks on every single post about how virtuous Texas is for firing Beard.

Maybe.

But losing by 20 will suck enough.

I knew we’d find use for Moral Victories …

I would be for changing the title to “why'd you break my reading glasses, bitch.“

He'll be in Louisville next season.

Bullshit. In reality, women who “fight back” are more likely to be murdered. Women who arm themselves, are more likely to have their abuser use that gun.

The problem we have is not equal between men and women. The hospitalized and deceased are few and far between battered men. Its an epidemic.

With exceptions, men cannot engage in fair physical confrontations with women. If you want to see how it plays out when women FAFO, watch the Joe Mixon video again.

At no point was Mixon, a large man with years of strength training in danger of being hurt. But he fucked that chick up. Mixon deserved more.

Your perception of how abuse/victim dynamics exist in reality is so far off it might as well be from mars, brother.

I agree with you on plenty of stuff but you seem to have a caveman's view of gender roles in general.

Is Kris supposed to be female in this case?  I know a couple of dudes that spell their name with a K instead of a C

Massive incel vibes. Just let it go, Derka. Beard fucked up and should have just walked away/left the house, provoked or not.

You would be too if you went from Beard to Rodney “horns up” Terry. It’s like going to bed with Jennifer Aniston and waking up with Caitlyn Jenner.

like how they went from Beard to Adams and went through another coaching search 2 years later?

They didn’t fire Beard. Even Tech’s not dumb enough to pull an Old Yeller on their basketball program.

I mean, we hired Adams. At least he had the courtesy to completely self destruct so we could hire a real coach.

You said “if they went from Beard to Terry”

They basically did. And hired a new coach 2 years later. As will we

Adam’s actually was great his first year. 27-10 finished 12th.  With Chris’s players of course.  But he was let go after saying a racially insensitive remark to a player.

so we need a video of Rodney calling Cunningham honkeylips or something of that nature

One time and you’re branded for life.

This isn't really accurate.

He had a few of Beard's players (2 starters and a couple of good bench players iirc), but also hit 3 major home runs in the portal and did a legitimately good job his first year. The racially insensitive remark was just the catalyst that we needed to fire him for cause for all of the extremely self destructive (and destructive to our basketball program) stuff he was doing behind the scenes in his personal life.

Yeah, it wasn’t willingly. The two situations couldn’t be more different.

Also, didn’t Adams win the Phelan award and take them to a sweet 16? I mean… Damn that must suck.

Was he banging his dead wife’s sister or his dead brother’s wife?

His dead brother's wife, and apparently he used the basketball tourney in Hawaii as a personal vacation for the two of them and was barely with the team at all. "Christians", amirite?

Sounds biblical to me. Let he who has not coveted his dead brother’s wife cast the first stone

Do he and his dead brother kind of look alike?
