LCRA gauges that bracket me all show 2.2-2.5 inches these past 24 hours and close to 4.5-5 inches in the last 4 days....   much needed !

Another great round in San Marcos. The river might flow again. Of course it is now full of hippy and dog shit, but damn it was low.

Sun is coming out in northern SA. This pushed through quicker than I thought. At least we got something.

There's more coming, no? Forecast shows another two windows of >50% chances - tomorrow afternoon and Sunday night.

Not over yet!

In fact... Here comes another wave that's building up as it approaches Austin. Or at least not being murdered by the dome.

Oh definitely some good chances. I was just surprised how fast/far it pushed east- models didn't show that yesterday.

Here's to getting every drop we can before the cold front hits.

Dumping in Hyde Park again

I guess I wont complain, but most of it is just running off into storm drains at this point. We gotta shift this shit west.

Good for you, but is it raining?

I mean, a lot of it is getting soaked up.  Yeah, it would be better west but I'm not complaining.  We just had another cell.

Everybody needs the rain.

Once the ground is completely saturated, then ideally it would fall into the Lake Travis and Lake Buchanan catchment zones.

But we don't get to choose so at the very least, this week, we can celebrate an important victory over the Austin FF.

It's still good as this freshwater is needed in the coastal bays, in our case Matagorda Bays. The shrimp, fishlings, and oysters, especially the oysters, thank you for it.

I have 4 umbrellas but I have never bought an umbrella in my life.  I have no idea how I came to possess them.

I'm picturing your avatar saying that, so thanks?

Hey, the sun is peaking through the clouds! Its never going to fucking rain again!

Rain gauge shows a smidge above 1.5” in 78130.

It was glorious even if the rain god’s prostate got in the way of a good soaking.

Actually glad to see it. My area was in the bullseye and needs to dry out a bit.

My place out by Junction has had 24" of rain this year (annual average 22"). My house 14" (annual average 33.5"). We got .5" from this event, I hold the real force field!

Don't look now, but Lake Travis is up 1/4 foot since noon today!

3 inches! Now that's exciting!

llano is already coming back down, but it would be nice to get a foot or two out of this that would be something.

Short term lake level forecasts for Buchanan and Travis:

Buchanan
A rise of 1-2 feet is expected over the next 24-48 hours.

Travis
A rise of 1-2 feet is expected over the next 24-48 hours.

https://hydromet.lcra.org/riverreport

So not a lot but maybe the ground is saturated and the cold front will bring its own rain.

You can't rise 30 feet without rising 1-2 feet first.

-- Mack Brown

Here is a snapshot of the ground moisture levels in the Highland Lake basins.  It's till pretty dry in some places out west.  This round of rain will help, but like Troph said, we need another round just like it next week.

@YGIFS , here is my weather report suite. Shit got real at the Hate household. As in real real nice! I’m sitting on the porch ripping one hits, but no bourbon sadly. I am listening to a sweet sweet Looks Like Rain. It’s from 5/26/77 at the 46:40 mark!

Up two feet and still more coming down. Love it.

Does anybody know how far behind Austin rainfall was for the year through September?  Say, at Camp Mabry?  I'm curious to see if this is making much of a dent in the deficit.

Couple of more feet and it'll be at 40% capacity.  Fingers crossed for tonight.

What a difference a day makes. The soil for the lake basins is now primed. If we could just get another round like we just had, it could put an even bigger dent in the deficits.
