January 2, 20232 yr Left the old girl on the street as the move was winding down and she was promptly collected, but that left ME with no grill. Still have the egg so all good on the smoking front, but I need something for day-day. Would like to avoid the Home Depot / Lowe’s route as those tend to fall apart, but also not looking to break the bank. So, if y’all were shopping for something similar, where would you start the search?

January 2, 20232 yr Why not buy a Weber at Home Depot? Seems like they have most models, gas or charcoal.
January 2, 20232 yr Wasn't there a thread on the old site where a poster and his buddies built a grill or smoker from an old propane tank? Lots of beer was involved if I recall correctly. OP should go this route.
January 3, 20232 yr I got my burnt orange Weber Genesis at BBQ Outfitters in 2008. It was a bit nicer than what they offered at home depot. Still running strong 15 years later. I'd definitely go with Weber if you're looking for gas. A few parts have been replaced over the years, but they were readily available and easy to swap.
January 3, 20232 yr Team Weber if you’re going gas. And Ace will put it together for you for the retail price.
January 3, 20232 yr Get on clist or fb marketplace and buy a solid/cared for Weber off somebody for at least a 50% discount.

This was the route I took several years ago. the guy was complaining about how little he was selling it for and all I could think was “well, you know you could, you know, charge more.” as I gladly loaded it up and hauled it away.

January 3, 20232 yr I bought my Weber online from Lowes several years ago and they put it together and delivered it, so not only Ace offers this unless something has changed.
January 3, 20232 yr Echo others here - Weber is the way to go, no question. Related: anybody here have a Blackstone griddle? Saw one in use at a friend's house recently, and it looks badass.

January 3, 20232 yr My local Lowes had a couple of Weber Spirits at 50% off the other day. Mine's still in good shape, so I passed. Edited January 3, 20232 yr by Gil Bang
January 6, 20232 yr Author Thanks for the advice, all - I’ve got a griddle insert which works great but now of course I’m debating just getting a big boy instead of a grill and using the egg for everything else…
February 16, 20232 yr Author Broke her in last night - Really happy with the selection, so thx again!
