He controlled the ball when he got two feet inbounds.  Why does it matter what happens to the ball when he falls down out of bounds?

These catch rules are such bullshit.

  • Author

Lol @ that not being a catch. NFL needs this "cinderella story" to have a chance to keep churning.

How many games is that called a TD? A lot.

I've always found it a tad absurd that you can have the runner just cross the goalline with the ball and it's a TD but a WR has to maintain total possession even after both feet hit inbounds.

all we need now is for Buff to get a call on the next drive and we will know the fix is in.

exactly, this bullshit has jumped the shark.

Seemed to me he caught it, controlled it then he gets somewhat stripped and then loses a bit of control and regains it all after the catch...but whatever a catch is whatever they want it to be

That’s not a catch anywhere else on the field why do y’all think it should be a catch in the end zone

By rule, it's definitely not a catch.

I also agree with everyone that the rule is awful.

It looked like there may have been a point where both hands were off the ball but I wouldn’t have overturned it.

Because it should be a catch in the field as well

When he hit the ground, the ball was completely loose, pinned between the two of them. He just regained control quickly. I thought the overturn was the right call.

By rule it’s not

It would have been a catch in the field because he never ultimately dropped it.  But let's say he did drop it....would it have been a fumble in the field of play?

The NFL may be incentivized to keep the Hamlin story going but I think Burrow picks them apart in the second half. Jmo. I didn’t think it was a catch but the new rules suck ass

Why? The runner has full possession of the ball before he approaches the goal line. The WR (just like any other player) has to have full possession before we start counting yards and ball location.

play of the game so far coming up.  IF Buffalo wants to stay in the game they have to hold Cincy to 0 points this drive.

I am so impressed with Joe Cool.  Is it possible he is cooler than OG Joe Cool? (Montana)

Not quite. The OG didn't lose a SB. But he is the closest to Montana in the current NFL.

of course not because the ground can't cause a fumble

You have to perform an act “common to the game” or maintain control long enough to do so. The latter applies here and he clearly did not

Fans pissed they aren’t going for it…I guess I would be too…

Burrow has free money to play with right now…I’d dial up a long ass pass okay to one of my speedsters and stick my foot on their throat going into the half.

in the field of play and not in the end zone, is it, or is it not, a catch?

psa: fuck chipotle and their all-galaxy shrinkflation strategy: half the food, twice the price

So how long do you have to roll around on the ground with the ball.  If you lay there for a second and drop it is it incomplete?  How about 10 seconds?  A minute?

Goddamn fuck these Jesus commercials.

So many of them that the live shot of Damar in the box on the Bengals last drive had to be replayed bc we couldn’t see him live.

In the field of play the play would continue until he gained control or the ball hit the ground. On sideline or back of end zone his body being OB ends the play

How long does it take to make a football move? At least a second. That ball moved almost immediately

The likelihood of you getting points is less likely of you getting two incomplete passes…—-Romo-ism

That splattering sound against your toilet bowl is the soundtrack of having eaten at Chipotle.

Fuck yeah, keep playing long as there's time on the clock.

Bills body language is worrisome if you are a Bills fan…head hung…kind of halfass jogging into the tunnel. They have to know what’s next. They do get the ball to start the second half though…

Joe did that better than Dak

I give more credit to the ref placing the ball in a timely fashion.

I love Lily Tomlin but I'll wait for Surly's input on 80 for Brady.

So his last year in college wins the MNC. First year in NFL gets his knee blown up behind the worst OLine money can buy and as he’s carted off says they’ll be back and better next year. The next year they beat Mahomes and go to SB. This year he has an appendectomy right before the season and misses a bunch of practice. Wins their division. So far outdueling Allen in the snow on their turf with the NFL chomping at the bit for the Bills to win and go to Atlanta.

That’s what I don’t get. Say a QB reaches out, and the ball is in one hand, and it just touches the plane of the goal, but then the ball is knocked out of his hands. It’s still a TD. Like you said, he had the ball, two feet in for a second. It’s not right.
