January 12, 20232 yr One of my first college football memories was watching Charles White wearing #12 diving over the pile against Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. I loved that dude. Way too young but he lived pretty hard at one point.

My family was stationed in Germany during his Heisman run and we didn't get much 'from the States' back then, but when I did get the Sports page, I was religious about following this guy during his Heisman year, keeping up with how many yards he had in the game the previous Saturday. Sad, this. RIP Charles and thank you for keeping one 5th grader sane for a football season.
