I’m looking for a place to throw a 60th birthday party for my MIL. Ideally, looking for 20-30 people and being able to maybe reserve a room or something to have cocktails and appetizers passed around or ordered and set down or whatever. Looking for something in the middle of being not too formal but also not super casual. Has anyone done something like this before and have some guidance?

I've been to private parties of that size at Armandos and Brenann's.  Both were fun.

pappasitos  - ive had many meetings / events here. it's damn simple and everything is always great

I’ve been to both of these for similar parties and they do a great job. I would also look into the upstairs room at BCN.

You're not going to be able to do 20-30 up there. I've been to dinners in the upstairs room with 12 people and it was tight.

My bad. You’re right. I just looked back at our guest list and it was 14.

Ousie’s or Backstreet

Those are both great suggestions, especially if you want to do a patio.

Threw this exact party for my mom at Carrabba's on Kirby. Great private room off the bar.
