Phillies got Justin Bour from MIA for a reliever who was just promoted to AA. Probably platoon at 1B with Carlos Santana who has been a pretty big disappointment for $20 million. Ballsy move, I really like that they are serious about contention this year without ditching any quality prospects.

The guy they traded wasn’t much of a prospect. Santana also hits better left handed so they can’t really platoon. Bour isn’t anything special anyway.

The worst defensive CF on the planet, Adam Jones, has finally been moved to RF. -40 DRS in last 3 seasons.

That’s 40, like the beverage.

Former All-Star pitcher Esteban Loaiza, who earned more than $43 million over 14 seasons, pleaded guilty Friday to federal drug charges in California.

Loiza acknowledged that he possessed about 20 kilograms, or 44 pounds, of cocaine with intent to distribute. He faces up a minimum of 10 years in a prison and maximum of life when he is sentenced Nov. 2.

Man, talk about fucking up your life.

it may have been recent, so don't kill me if it was, but when was the last time we had four mvp candidates as deserving as Trout, JD, Jose, and Mookie all in one league? Any one of them would be deserving in almost any season with the numbers they're putting up. Jose could go .300/1.000 with 100 R, 100 RBI, 40 HR, and 30 SB and finish 4th. It's that deep.

Trout, Ramirez, and Betts are all on pace to finish with fWAR of 9+ (Martinez is a good deal behind at 5.7 and Lindor, Champman, Bregman, and Judge have higher projections) per Steamer Projections. That hasn't happened since 2004 (Bonds, Beltre, Rolen).

Trout, jd, mookie, Ramirez is definitely the race. Id personally give it to Mookie.

yeah it's gonna be hard to go against JD's numbers, but I think that Mookie is the straw that stirs the drink in Boston and his numbers are just as gaudy. lotta talent in that division.

The O’s were mathematically eliminated from winning the East tonight. It’s August 10. In other words, the O’s could finish 46-0 and the Red Sox finish 0-45 and the Red Sox would still be ahead of the O’s in the standings upon completion of baseball on September 30.
That is insane.

It's ridiculous.  I'm biased, but I'd go with Mookie as well.  His defense definitely gives him a nod over JDM.  But part of me really wants to see Jose Ramirez keep cruising, largely in hopes of him leading the league in HR & SB... a feat that hasn't been accomplished in 86(!) years.

The 10 hardest hit balls in the MLB this year have all been hit by Yankees. If I’m commissioner I’m giving them at least 5 games in the standings for that.

If only statcast had the technology to measure the launch angle and exit velocity of yankee balls that have been hit off of your chin.

Is that why they are dominating the Red Sox this year?

Wheeler has been dealing, and i can see

So he’s a Wheeler dealer?

With a runner on 2nd, the DBacks just intentionally walked Peraza to get to Votto.

Single on the first fucking pitch.😒

321’, 91.2 mph, the accuracy is fucking unreal.

Hader came in and got a perfect two-inning save, striking out three. Knebel may have lost the job.

Yeah, there will be a bunch of the other angles up on mlb.com soon enough. EJax’s reaction was great, as was how nonchalantly Canha received the throw.

Day 1 without Kenley Jansen did not go well for LAD.

3-run bomb in the 9th to lose 3-2.

Amazing 2 games for the Rockies (and Ryan McMahon)

So basically if it were a football field, he threw it goalline to goalline and nailed the pylon.

In going to the Trop end of Sept just because i will be in Tampa. I am really fucking hoping he is called up cause its the Jays that will be in town. At least I'll have something to look forward to in that game....other than seeing my boy Carlos Gomez act a fool

He's a fascist.

Three guys with 200+ HR and 100+ SB in the last 7 years...

Trout and Goldschmidt are two of them.  Who's the other guy?

And there we go.

The bad news is that his b-r top age comp for every year but one is Ruben Sierra, who fell off a cliff at about this age.

4-man bench, Counsell uses a P to PH to lead off the fucking 5th, predictably K’d. Also, Knebel came in the bottom of that inning.

* He has an 0.69 ERA in his last 10 starts, striking out 109 in 65 innings.

* He has thrown 28 consecutive scoreless innings.

* He has not allowed a HR in 68 IP dating back to June 1.

* Opponents are 33-225 (.147) against him since June 8.

Damn. I looked at him but only counted back to 2012.

Dodgers serve up a walk-off walk.  Rockies won three in a row against them.
