Gerardo’s is still kicking ass. Especially barbacoa. I like their carnitas but not my favorite in town.

Chilosos is fucking awful. And el tiempos tacos suck. No Cantina Barba on that list?

Barba should be on there. Many friends have pointed out this snub.

Chilosos is fine, but shouldn’t be ranked. You have to keep it very simple, bacon breakfast taco simple.

any ‘good’ houston taco truck is better than half that list

little out of the way for most, but Mochy’s on Telephone has $1.50 Tuesday tacos. The beef / potato and red pork were damn good. Excellent tortillas ….

3 putt is going to @ me, but La Calle has pretty good breakfast tacos. Their M-F breakfast special is 2 breakfast tacos, and a cup of coffee for $4.99. Coffee is solid. Hard to beat.

I finally had a chance to stop by Juarez, based on your recommendation.

Cheese enchilada plate is the only thing I ever order at a Tex-Mex place.

This was a damn fine plate of enchiladas.

El T still slams. I hate literally everything about them, but their food is good. Beef fajitas came out nice and rare. All the fixings were on point. Best house margaritas in the city.

They overcharged us a smidge, but I didn’t care because it was such a good meal. It’s not an every week treat, but I recommend blowing it out at El T once or twice a year.

The lunch pork chop at Guadalajara slams and goes hard. Not my favorite place, but it’s worth it for the pork chop.

In a shocking development, Blue Agave has elite lamb chops. Some of the best I’ve had in the city. Special bonus, their bartenders are stacked and wear flattering uniforms. Patio looked nice too.

excellent fajitas, damn good tortillas

I had a good meal at Pacific Coast Tacos on Shepherd today. If you can get over the California implications, it’s a darned good taco.

The Ultimate Beef taco reminded me of a place in Acapulco from decades ago.

I’m a fan of Pacific Coast Tacos. The taco purists will say it’s gringo tacos, which they are, but they’re damn tasty. Was happy when they opened the one on Shepherd since it’s closer to the house than the one on Washington.

casa julia out in bfe (barbers hill) was a damn good lunch this past week. very good classic tex mex

highly recommend

So let’s have the conversation about Brothers Tacos. Go for lunch. I ordered chorizo and egg + beans for breakfast and barbacoa + beans for lunch.

The breakfast taco was very average. I know 3 putt will light himself on fire for this take. I would ask him to blind taste Chiloso vs Brothers. It’s closer than comfort.

The barbcoa was outstanding. No notes.

Plenty of parking nearby. Skip the lot and park on the street. Line the was manageable at 8 am.

Almost afraid to ask, but what cut of meat does Ruiz use? Goat really isn’t my thing.

I can’t recommend Guadalajara Memorial. No draft beers and they burnt the shit out of my pork chop. They got real cute with it and piled pico and avocado slices on top so I couldn’t see it. I told the bartender about it and she basically told me to fuck off.

Happy Hour quail and jalapeño sausage were terrific, but I’ll stick to the Greenway location.

Eating here now. Pretty decent food, and the hot sauce is good too.

I assume Greenway? I like the bar area at that location. Nice and tucked back and away from the door.

memorial city

i was pleasantly surprised

The Downtown location is my favorite Guadalajara. Just a lovely dining room, and a cool second floor bar/lounge. Food is on point as well.

I probably would have put it and The Palm in a different part of Downtownz. They’re losing a lot of lunch business.
