I enjoyed the Superman Returns trailer with the Brando voice-over. Another example of great trailer/shit film.

It’s no Heinz Field as Gotham, but cool to see. Now I want a Metropolis Meteors hat.

yeah trailer-wise, I think the last 2 Superman reboots have been better. Doesn't mean this one sucks, but as far as teasers go, those were excellent.

That looks meh. However, John Williams makes good movies great, and great move movies iconic. I hope they decided to lean in to his music.

Among many other things, I hope there's an origin story for why the dog is wearing a cape.

So the trailer broke all of the DC/Warner Brothers records with over 250 million views in one day.  Fanboy youtubers are posting reaction videos of themselves tearing up.  Fangirls are swooning.

Meanwhile, a few are complaining that the opening shows that he's weak...and they are completely ignoring the fact that the motherfucker hit the ground at what looked to be terminal velocity.  Yeah, he's a weakened Superman, but I'm pretty certain that if anybody complaining hit the ground that hard, they could be poured into their coffin.

And they are completely ignoring that a huge part of the first Christopher Reeves movie was literally Superman being held captive by Lex Luthor, and Lois Lane dying and the West Coast collapsing until Lex Luthor's girlfriend frees Superman, who does his timey-wimey thing.  And then in the Cavill movies, Batman nearly kills him in Batman vs Superman, until discovering that Martha was their mom.

People will bitch about just about anything. Guy Gardner's haircut. Krypto being in the movie. Mr. Terrific's costume. I don't know why people can't just trust James Gunn to do a good job given his previous record of resetting what a superhero movie can be. I think the intro to the trailer being Superman crashing into the ice is to show this is a more grounded Superman who isn't invulnerable or god-like. You can't just have a lazy story where it's either something kryptonite based that levels the playing field or a ridiculous weapon like Doomsday to hurt Superman. I am really only a Superman fan because of Christopher Reeve and I will be at the Thursday showing for this one. It looks like the perfect movie to start Gunn's new universe.

My only complaint is that it seems like new thing in trailers is to show the whole damn movie.

I feel like I saw the movie as it stands. No one leaves any suspense in trailers anymore

I mean, why does he wear a cape? It doesn't help him fly, right? Seems it would get in the way sometimes.

Why do they put a little bandana on my dog when I take her to the groomers?

Superman or the dog?

Superman himself. I’m sure it’s explained in the comic books but I’m totally not a nerd.

He's very independent. Doesn't follow the trends.

/nerd Because back in the day when they were first creating the Superman comics and the printing presses weren't always that good, they needed a way to show movement through the air, and a cape was the easiest way to do it.  If the cape is down, he's moving up, if it's raised/above him, he's landing, etc.  Originally Superman just jumped really far distances (leap tall buildings in a single bound). Otherwise, he looks like he's hovering in air. Also, they took inspiration for Superman from circus strongmen, who wore tights and capes.

Eventually they made it part of the lore that the cape could function as a shield for humans, bulletproof and heatproof, etc.

Capes were big in the '30s?

Okay, I like this casting and Gunn pulling Lobo into his DCU is very interesting.

He basically plays Lobo in everything else, why not officially?

The haircut is pretty on point for Guy Gardner, but why is he like 60 years old???

Because Guy Gardner as we know him has been around for 35-40 years in the comics?

Really? That looked amazing to me.

I love that it is a Superhero movie and not just another Superman movie. I am super excited about this one.

It looks like the All-Star Superman comic that it is said to be inspired by. Looks great to me.

Robots? Really? The whole yellow sunshine scene was cringey over acted.

I'll watch a dloaded cam version because that's prob the effort this movie deserves.

Yeah, and they are definitely going for the color palette from the comics.

The robots are literally from the comic run that this is based on, down to the design of them.

Gunn is fully embracing the comic books, and that may not be for everybody obviously. Marvel really avoided that for a lot of their movies, outside of the first Captain America, and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.  Maybe the Spidey movies.

There are just going to be some people who will shit on this no matter what.  Just gotta ignore those fools.

All-Star Superman has my absolute favorite one page panel in all of comic-dom.

I thought about picking it up when I was at Barnes & Noble a couple weeks ago. They had a pocket version that was pretty cheap. Part of me wants to go in cold though.

I love it, go get it.  They aren’t going to do a straight adaptation because All-Star is pretty self contained and it’s clear this is meant to be the jumping off point in Gunn’s DC movie universe.

Why would you care? Also, sometimes people like different things. It’s pretty crazy.

People care about the things they care about. Why do you care why he cares?

Sometimes people say they don't like something they have never experienced or actually know anything about just to be contrarian dicks. That's not differing likes, that's just lazy assholery.

Why did you care enough to respond?  Yes people like what they like. Which was my point...some people are going to hate it no matter what, better to ignore them.

You’re confusing Superman with Batman.
