I just want to get to that day where there won’t be an election to replace him if he has to step down so republicans will stop doing their annoying “welfare” checks and demands on him.

So, it's like totally cool to make fun of stroke victims now?

Can we go ahead and go for the retards too?

Interpret it however you deem fit.

It basically looks like he is being tortured.

I remember all your posts making fun of the malignant narcissist that had the nuclear codes too.  Right?

Man, I get it.  It's not a great look/sound.  I posted this a few months ago, and I'm getting old myself so I can't remember the terminology.  But my wife is a very accomplished/published Speech-Pathologist/Therapist.  And so there are niches, but basically stroke victims fall into two categories.  There are those that speak very eloquently and clearly but have suffered obvious cognitive decline.  They'll say something perfectly in terms of grammar and annunciation and syntax; but sadly it won't make any fucking sense.  "The brown cow jumped over the moon at midnight and had a wonderful time."  Then there's the flipside when the stroke patient can reason and analyze and decision make with previous levels of clarity but just the speech part isn't there.  They can read and comprehend and write and analyze all day, but the part of the brain associated with speech has just suffered.  Sadly, it's one of the first to go.  She and her colleagues believe that Fetterman is suffering from the second one.  They've used him as an example to patients.  That he can perform every high level function and cognitive exercise, but those events for some reason really beat up the speech part of the brain.

I'll share a personal story with all humblebrags aside.  I have DJ'd a radio show outside Chicago.  I have done paid voiceover work.  I have recorded textbooks for the blind and dyslexic.  I have made keynote speeches at the University of Texas.  I have spoken at conferences, introduced rock bands at large venues as well as standup comic friends.  And chicks used to ask me to record their outgoing voicemail message like a TV announcer.  Keith Moreland once told me I could call color for baseball.  About a year ago, due to a medical event, I started to stammer.  Kind of like a lockjaw thing.  It only pops up a few times a week, thankfully.  My brain is fine, but it could to some longtime associates appear that I have had a cognitive decline.  Much like Fetterman.  What was once a commanding voice now on occasion appears to be forgetful and unsure.  And perhaps that's true in some small part.  But sometimes folks like he and I just have shit days talking but the noggin is running at 110%.  Then again, he and I may stroke out again tomorrow.  Who the fuck knows?  But this guy appears to all systems functioning.  People that talk a lot stay dumb shit all the time, I'm certainly guilty.

His stroke is the topic of the thread.

He is past the 3-6 month golden period of recovery so it is highly unlikely his symptoms get better from here.

Personally I have had business interactions with a couple of people before and after strokes.  I assume they were both more verbally impaired then mental as they seemed to pretty much be able to continue to do their jobs.  Their symptoms were delayed/drawn out speech, not mispronunciation/word salad like above.  Both of them were done working fairly soon though after their strokes and you could sense their frustration with post stroke slow verbal communication.

Agreed.  Totally to fine to keep it with his stroke (that's what she said).  I was just offering up a learned perspective on what has happened to him mentally as opposed to communication (obviously they are intertwined).  And yeah to your point, the frustration part is tough to see with folks.  It's happened to family members probably of all of us.  They're doing just fine but the sentences just don't flow like they used to and the consternation on their part just feeds into this nasty loop.  It's tough to watch.  I've had a touch of it myself.  My wife sees it the same in young children with articulation issues, where they just get more and more frustrated and so the cycle just feeds itself.  But most of her patients, young and old are spot on cognitively.  But man, when you can't express yourself like everybody else can---it's just this recycle of frustration that makes you sound worse and worse.  I had to stop myself on a podcast a while back because I was locking up and it just got worse from there.  I'm sure my 80's if I make if that far, are gonna be a fucking blast ;)

Interpret it however you deem fit.

I was going to type something thoughtful but I think it’s more succinct to point out that the party you constantly carry water for and oh so convincingly pretend not to be a complete simp for couldn’t come up with a candidate that could do any better than getting within 5% of the guy you’re trying to tear down; in a year where they had significant fundamental advantages no less.

You and your texaggy brethren don’t even realize you’re the butt of your own jokes.

So, the brain is weird and it would be stupid to assume that a stroke would affect everyone's speech pattern the same.  I've posted on this thread my interaction with a neighbor who was having a stroke and she was mixing words up, but speaking them relatively clearly.  So, obviously different than your anecdote.  Because anecdotes aren't science.

Do you have any indication, other than the speech issues, that Fetterman is having cognitive issues that are interfering with his job?  If not, maybe just shut the fuck for a while.  Be sure to inform us if he starts rambling about insane shit, like Jewish space lasers or trickle-down economics.

LOL.  Personally, I've been the medical director for brain injury units.  I didn't have to assume a whole lot because I went to school for a billion years to treat these patients.  There's a massive difference between expressive and receptive aphasia.  You can vote perfectly fine and know 'what you're doing' but you have trouble getting things out with actual speech - it's worse when you have dumbshits like you pressing people.  Someone with malignant narcissistic personality is 10000x more dangerous.  The topic at hand is his ability to perform and that's totally fair to compare to someone else who's the leading candidate for President for a major party that you support.

Will you put a note on the bulletin board when discussion of Fetterman's stroke is permissible on the Fetterman's Stroke thread?  Thanks in advance.

Dude, everybody is talking about his stroke.  What we're discussing is what his stroke has done to his speech, his cognition, and his overall wellness.  There is a post from a literal stroke physician above your's discussing strokes.  I guess the nuance is that strokes are different for every patient in terms of what it all affects.  We're all citing professional insight.  I don't give a shit about the guy, never donated money to him, just that he strongly appears to be a stroke patient who is cognitively with it and salient.  But with marked to moderate speech issues.

I mean, I'm one of the dumbest people on here but I get how physiology works.  I've literally had some of the speech issues Fetterman has.  Most of us have if we could look back on that many recorded hours of us speaking.  Everything on here has been about his stroke.  You're gonna be just fine.

Posting tweets from "RNC Research" intended to politically attack and belittle him personally is not discussing his stroke or its effects, you troll.  Fuck off.

Why don’t you move to Pennsylvania and do something about it? Meanwhile Texas has a senior senator who can’t cook brisket and a junior senator who is is the most hated senator in his own caucus of assholes.

Same. All from a non serious post about phrenology.

All of this hand-wringing that curiously didn't happen when doctors felt compelled to administer a COGNITIVE TEST to the President.  #whatabout #acedit

You've literally had doctors tell you that his speech issues might not correlate to any cognitive decline.  Nobody has a problem with talking about his stroke or his depression, etc.  What you did was a heh-heh drive by, which is wholly consistent with your abhorrent behavior in general.

Perhaps the man should memorize rote bullshit to support positions he's incapable of putting under critical review. It's my understanding that many people not suffering from aphasia do this all the time.

We should all be mavericks and vote our conscience no matter what like the brave GOPs in Congress.

There is no question that Incredulous posted what he did to deride a man not make some honest appraisal of his condition or fitness for office. His post was not serious and his sophistry attempting to paint himself as a poor victim merely staying on topic while all the meanies assail him is straight up bullshit.

He believes that he is displaying wit in both cases. No doubt his dickhead friends all get a big chuckle out of it. Somebody has to fill the void left by the death of Limbaugh. Or join him in the one he now occupies.

Nah, his words are from a broken brain, he's broken, and he's trolling.  He's not even trying to make a sincere argument.

I'M GOING TO PROVE MY SINCERITY BY POSTING TWEETS FROM RNC RESEARCH.  THIS IS OUT OF VALID CONCERN FOR HIS HEALTH.  WHY DON'T YOU BELEIVE ME?

Fetterman is not doing well.  I would be very surprised if he finishes a 6 year term.

I don't care for much of Fettermans politics.  As stated above, he is a trust fund kid masquerading as working class because of daddy issues.

Dr.Oz was that shitty of a candidate.
