2024 NBA draft thread - who goin steal Bron from Lakers?

Featured Replies

MJ never forced a team to draft his son that wasnt good enough. GOAT

Lakers going for entertainment over championships is nice though.

Quickly getting 175 million? Geez

$80-90 million/year for barnes and quickley.  wow.

120M or so with RJ Barrett.   Crazy.

Is this news to anybody that agents are directing players to teams in the second round? This is how the second round has worked for the past several years. They do it in the first round, too, but the contracts don't leave room for negotiation so it works a little differently with teams making promises in return for players shutting down workouts. In round 2, agents actively work with teams to get their clients into the best possible situations, and teams have different needs vis a vis the salary cap and roster spots, so they negotiate for appropriate terms - two-way deal, guaranteed deal, number of years, etc. It's not talked about how much power agents wield in the NBA. You think it's an accident that all these agents are moving into front office positions around the league? The only reason this is even a story is because of Lebron.

And let's face it, if Bronny didn't have a famous father, nobody would know his name and he wouldn't have been drafted. The only reason I can think that the Lakers drafted him is for an ego trip. They could have just as easily signed him as an undrafted free agent after scaring every other team off with that Australia threat. Why burn the pick at all? This whole thing is weird ego-driven publicity stunt.

Still shocked by the historical Bronny and LeBron pairing.

Because you're telling me that Calvin Murphy, Shawn Kemp or hell - Wilt - didn't somehow play at the same time and on the same team as one of their kids?

I mean, the odds were there. Maybe it happened and they didn't even realize it?

That's what gets me. They could have said nothing about this and just let the draft happen and sign him as a FA. That would make logical sense. But this whole charade of making him a draft pick, just so they can say "he was drafted", it honestly defeats the purpose. That's not how you want to make it in pro sports. You want to make it on your own name and your own efforts. It's kinda shitty to see honestly.

conflicting stories out there that she may be as much as 8 years older than him, and perhaps they're cousins at some level.

Buttcrack isnt a reliable source but there were multiple other outlets reporting it and his family (or at least someone who was supposed to be family) was tweeting about it.

Lakers introduced Bronny today. J.J. & Pelinka said that Bronny “earned this” and that he is guaranteed one of the 15 roster spots.

Meme Reaction GIF

No doubt. When you average 4/2/2 teams are gonna line up to give you a guarantee.

These aren't serious people.

I got 3 notifications in 30 minutes about Bronny making a layup, a video for the layup and daddy’s reaction to said layup. ESPN can fuck right off with this shit, turned off all their notifications.
