Cool fing song.  It sort reminds me of the “New Orleans is Sinking,” kind of tune.

if you have the ability to listen in spatial/dolby (AirPods max or other binaural headphones...or a 7.1/9.1 setup), you should check out the "in-side" mix for this track (which is just the dolby atmos version). It is fucking wildly immersive.

Car Seat Headrest just released The Scholars last week, and it might be the next great rock opera album. Too many tracks to highlight, but I will say the 19 minute Planet Desperation could be a stand alone EP. As it's a concept album, it's best to listen start to finish. There's a lot to unpack with the lyrics and storyline, but man, does this album deliver on all fronts.

Big fan of The National and Matt.  They put out lots of good stuff.  Like the 80s New Order influence.  Hope you like it too.

Listened to this on repeat when it dropped a few weeks ago. Matt's solo stuff has been underwhelming but holding out hope this next album is way better. This track is certainly a very promising start.

These guys are great.

Debut album from 1994.

They are still going too and played here last July. Incredible live shows.

The "best opening lyrics" thread has been getting bumped and someone had posted lyrics from "Round Here" by Counting Crows. I made a comment about how I think they're a pretty underrated band then I threw on August and Everything After.

This is a great fucking song.

This might be Steve Nieve's best work on an EC song, esp. the middle 8 and the fadeout.

Song has been covered a lot, but I like this one the best.

Based on a thread elsewhere, I'm starting to really appreciate angry bands fronted by women...

Hell yes.  I just heard this on XM.  Of course it’s Auerbach.

Jesus fucking Christ. That’s amazing. I’m a fucking wreck.

And I went down the Sam Fender rabbit hole, and everything about it was good.

This just came up randomly on my YT music. Holy shit this is a good song.

Ronson is a talented dude.

Really impressed with Poppy's switch from pop to metal.

She went from this

To this

Saw Styx a few weeks back.  The Shriners were doing a fundraiser for their hospital where you got a raffle ticket to win a signed guitar and you got a new Styx cd for $20.  The Shriners do great work and I’m pretty bad about buying new music so I gave them a $20. Didn’t win a guitar.

I had seen this AI-heavy video for the first single off this new album.  It’s a trip, and the song is pretty good.

it’s taken a few listens but the album has grown on me.   If you want Grand Illusion or Pieces of Eight, this ain’t it. Bands evolve, change members, age, etc.

This disc has some good songs.  And they don’t hide their influences.  I hear Pink Floyd, The Who, and a couple of tracks that remind of stuff from The White Album all mixed into this album.  Probably more if I think about it a little longer.

I am glad I bought it.

This is a great little track from the album Lorde just put out - despite the rest of the album being fucking awful.
