I've still never seen such a huge change in a player. He went on to play for a couple years in Washington. 35 pound of muscle in a year? That's 3 pounds of muscle per month.

March 26, 20232 yr Popular Post More practice notes from IT. As you can imagine there were a lot of high school coaches in attendance for Saturday’s practice. It’s always good to have a fresh set of eyes out there, but we went back to one of our mainstay sources for these notes. First impressions from the practice: It was an exciting day but it started a little slow with some wide receiver drops during the 1 on 1 period. Energy picked up, and so did the focus and it turned into a spirited affair especially with three live periods to tackle to the ground. That’s about 36 minutes of running clock for the team to get work in. The set up was 1s vs 1s, 2s vs 2s, and 3s vs 3s, but at some points the rotation was all over the place and you might see a starting cornerback or defensive tackle with the 3s. When asked for any players who stood out, the first player mentioned was Savion Red. He impressed with his ability to get yards after contact. We know he plays angry and has a great build for YAC but it’s good to hear he’s already doing it after the recent transition from receiver. It appears he’s a natural for the position but the source also mentioned, “The room is evenly deep, it’s hard to tell who will get the most carries, plus (Jonathon) Brooks and (Keilan) Robinson are still out.” He continued, “Jaydon Blue is running hard and is obviously fast. (Cedric) Baxter is just plain good.” That wasn’t to say Red was the best player on the field. That was the left tackle. “Kelvin Banks was dominating. Dominating.” On the defensive side of the ball, T’Vondre Sweat, David Gbenda, and Gavin Holmes were mentioned. I assume Jaylan Ford was left out in the same way Banks initially was, but Sweat had the interception on the screen we previously reported, Gbenda is “locked in and understands the position better than ever,” and “Gavin Holmes had a great day against Xavier Worthy.” Worthy did catch a long one but I don’t believe that was against Holmes. If Holmes can cover Worthy he can cover anyone. We’re starting to hear more and more about the Wake Forest transfer. Not surprising but good nonetheless. A consistent theme has been the first team offensive tackles are better than the Texas Edges and the first team defensive tackles are ahead of the interior offensive line. Part of that is because Alfred Collins is playing at his most consistently good level since he arrived at Texas. We’ll see if that remains constant throughout the spring and August camp, but it is his contract year. Texas has a strong four-man rotation in the interior but Bo Davis is working to develop the younger guys so they can be as deep as six like last year. Asked about starter Quinn Ewers, “Solid day. Much more confident than the quarterback we saw at times last year.” Arch Manning was also mentioned. He threw a slot fade touchdown during red zone drills. Just laid it in there. The younger players are doing well, but in keeping with the staff being impressed with their overall work ethic and buy-in, there is more offense and defense already installed than normal for this time of year and they’re still processing all that info. That said, most of them are well ahead of the freshmen curve. Anthony Hill had a strong practice relative to where he is in his development. Of the second-year guys, we heard a fair amount about Ethan Burke. This is in keeping with A) his strong winter conditioning, and B) they need to force feed him reps because he’s the best Buck pass rusher they have. Overall it was a good day and it’s fair to say the program is right on schedule through 6 practices, maybe even ahead.

If you look at the first 6 practices of spring the past two springs I bet it looks a whole hell of a lot different than it does this year. I read that as the team not having to do all the basic shit they had to do in prior years and looks on schedule for a team trying to take the next step in growth.

He p-hacked to get a percentage in there that could paint this board in the way that worked for his argument. In reality, 33% of the board guessed 9-4, which the team got really close to achieving via all the different ways everyone has already hashed out, in that one more game could have been won. People predicting 10+ wins comprised a whopping 14% of the votes, with 10 wins representing north of 12% of the overall total. There weren't a whole bunch of mouthbreathing clowns wildly predicting a title run. In fact, those predicting 9 wins got closer to the mark than numerous resident experts, like gmr548, who wrote this at the time: "Oh, I’m with you on the 7 wins thing. I don’t see a way this team wins more than 8. 6 is way more likely than 9 to me." -- 6 is way more likely than 9. "lol" I say all of that as someone who predicted 7 wins in that thread and said it would be disappointing if it came to fruition. Obviously Texas exceeded that, and, while I won't argue that it was disappointing, I will argue that it was frustrating, for all of the reasons everyone has espoused here and elsewhere for the last 3+ months. And I'm still fine thinking that the 2023 team should win the conference and be in the playoff conversation, if not one of the top 4 in it.
