SEC knife fight breaking out from the old guard with all these 10-2 teams jockeying for a spot in the playoffs .

We literally had a BCS , 2 team, and 4 team playoff where near perfection was expected and all of a sudden people are like losses don't matter !

It's insane

I'm old enough to remember when a team A lost to an unranked team at HOME and still got to play for a MNC against another team B who had been beaten by team C who had the same number of losses.

When Texas is involved we have to be perfect because great wins are offset by any loss and a bad loss can never be offset by a great win.

They even tried to make last year about Texas V FSU in the media not FSU v. Bama.

Jimmy Sexton reps almost every SEC head coach. Of course he is having all of his clients brag about how great the SEC is because it is a conference full of Jimmy Sexton HC clients. They’re all just circle jerking the league to make each other look better when they win/lose.

Per Andy Staples, Kiffin said no to Florida. The UF money guys have pivoted from Kiffin to fully funding NIL/the portal and keeping Sunbelt Billy. I think he’s a sort of decent guy version of Tom Herman, so this will ultimately fail. It does bring up an interesting theory that the players will make more than the coaches in short order.

I read somewhere yesterday that Kiffin said no he because his daughter (fine as hell( is a sophmore at Ole Miss and she talked him out of moving because she loves the school and he loves her and the school, too.

He’s grown on me. And after thinking sec shorts was better at the beginning of the season, he has consistently outperformed them lately (and by wider and wider margins). Loved the BCS logo Easter egg.  I would be mad at him selling out to Allstate and covering up the “Go Cocks” cheerleader rear but as long as it doesn’t effect the quality of the product, I’m all for the guy making some money.

Sec shorts would have been better off taking a bye week.. or just have 4 minutes of vandy pimp at Vandy.

Can you link me to his YT channel?

I'm following up to remind certain posters that this isn't Nam.  Taken before LSU game earlier this month so presumably right after she exercised her constitutionally guaranteed right to vote.

Now that is NOT an ole miss.

Not terrible this week.  Skip to 2:40 for Texas.

Yeah, Pawl also enjoying fanning the flames about Texas weak schedule...

Pawl isn't wrong but the thing that annoys me is Tennessee has an even worse schedule (identical 7 games + shittier OOC which offsets the diff between Bama and A&M)

I don't care if you call a spade a spade but you can't call our SEC slate the worst in 60 years without pointing out that the Vols got essentially the same draw.  We both lost to Georgia so far just they have also lost to Arkansas which we did not.

Actually agree that I don’t view Arky as rival. I get why they hate Texas but I don’t view them any differently than any other team. Been a long time since Arky had any relevancy.

Yeah these aren't the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s anymore. But they were one of our arch-rivals at the time and I still consider them a rival. Also I am old and I remember the 1980s games.

If we go on a streak of beating them down year after year that might change. Or the mysterious and inscrutable forces of SEC scheduling have us not playing them anymore.

Yeah, I sure hope Texas isn't forced to play arky every year --  for me arky=tech

Arky at least used to be something. Tech never was.

That's just you, though. Arkansas has been down for decades, but they do not deserve to be put into the same bucket as Tech. Tech has been a dreg of CFB for all but a small subset of years. Arkansas was a national power for decades and lays claim to a legitimate national title.

As to the rivalry bit, there's zero doubt that those folks view Texas as a rival. However, even that has changed over the years. There was zero heat from Arkansas fans before, during or after the game this time in Fayetteville. The mood in the stadium was surreally one of a boredom and resolution. The stands got a little loud when the score was briefly 13-10, but was quickly diminished and back to the overarching mood.

I was told by opposing fans on Saturday on multiple occasions that they were a basketball and baseball school now. Multiple folks went on about how excited they were about their cherished Omahawgs and how they were finally going to win it all this year. I laughed a lot inside at the premise that these people are calling themselves a baseball school when they're one of the chokiest baseball programs of all time and have never won a national title.

That said, we are going to feel the rivalry heat from Arkansas in both basketball and baseball, and that will be awesome.

Lane Kiffin reveals there are SEC coaches who don't want to play in conference championship game

Andrew Olson | 3 hours ago

Lane Kiffin may have made things a bit awkward with Greg Sankey for some of the league coaches. The Ole Miss head coach candidly revealed that not every SEC title contender is looking forward to playing in Atlanta next month.

Kiffin shared Monday that he has talked to coaches who would rather avoid playing in the SEC Championship Game if losing the game means dropping out of College Football Playoff contention. The winner, though, as Kiffin mentions, would almost certainly receive one of the byes for the top 4 conference champions.

Texas and Texas A&M are the only SEC teams with just 1 conference loss. Since the Longhorns and Aggies play in the regular season, the SEC Championship Game is guaranteed to include a team with at least 2 total losses. (Texas has only lost to Georgia. Texas A&M has 2 total losses to Notre Dame and South Carolina.)

With so many 2-loss teams fighting for Playoff spots, it’s understandable that coaches are worried a 3rd loss might drop them out of 1 of the 12 CFP spots. This is the first year of the 12-team Playoff field. It’s not immediately clear how the selection committee will handle conference championship game losses for at-large candidates.

Plenty of fans and coaches are eagerly awaiting to see how everything plays out.

If we win today, Texas will have beat 3 teams that Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Ole Miss have all lost to. SEC seems to be a grind for every team except Texas.

That may squeak up to 4 by the end of the night.

We pretty much clinched a spot in the playoffs tonight, with Ole Miss, Alabama, and aggy losing. They all have 3 losses.

3 SEC teams are likely in now. We are the only one with 1 loss in the conference.

Bama, Ole Miss are likely eliminated because they can't make the CCG and have 3 losses.

Georgia has clinched a spot in the CCG.

Winner of the Texas/aggy game is the other team in the CCG.

Tennessee is in the CFP if they beat Vanderbilt next Saturday and get to sit at home during the CCG weekend.

The ACC and Big 10 were the biggest benefactors of today.

Everything's all teed up for SEC Shorts to produce a banger. Let's see how they do. Other than the Vandy pimp, everything's this season has been mid to below-mid.

Glad that was caught on video.  Seems to be a perfect encapsulation of Drink.  Wants to be the bully so bad, but doesn't get that many opportunities.

They could have shown Texas asleep and smiling on the train for an instance.

The omission of Texas is really kind of funny now. Kind of like a pet sitting on your chair and looking away as the ass returns to the seat.
