Why are our conference mates such pussy-rubbed bitches?

You lost to a shitty LSU

That game was handed to the Tigahs by the refs. Watching that, it became apparent that the main difference with XII reffing is that we aren't the only ones getting fucked. On the bright side, even when it is us, it's not about some irrational hatred.

Note that the $52.5 million distro was only for schools with a full year in the league.

Texas and OU got roughly half of that (I believe a little over $27 million).

While accurate, it's missing a salient point. From what I understand OU and Texas got half portions as part of the agreement to move to the SEC a year early, not because they hadn't been in the league for a full year.

As opposed to say, Washington, Oregon, Stanford, and California. Or even SMU, which gets nothing in terms of TV distribution money. They all get smaller portions for the life of the current TV contract as part of the agreement to take them on as conference members.

It also says it averaged $52.5 per school.  If TX/OU got half a distribution then the other 14 school got more than that.

Nope. That number is the average for the 14 pre-2024 schools.

Auburn contract extension reportedly doubles DJ Durkin's salary

The pay bump makes Durkin the second highest paid coordinator in college football.

Doug Samuels      47 minutes ago

Quote

Auburn defensive coordinator DJ Durkin's recent contract extension at Auburn will make him one of the highest paid coordinators in college football.

Durkin, who agreed to a contract extension earlier this month, will now make a base salary of $2.5 million per season. With the built in annual escalator to raise that $200k each off season.

The veteran college defensive coordinator made $1.2 million leading the Tigers defense last fall and was set to make $1.4 million this year under his previous deal that took him through the 2026 season.

Multiple outlets have shared details of the extension.

The USA Today assistant coach salary database showed just nine assistant coaches in the $2 million per year club last year, and the new salary will pay him in the same range that LSU paid DC Blake Baker ($2.5 million), and what Michigan paid Wink Martindale ($2.3 million) last fall.

Just a few weeks ago, Jim Knowles departure from Ohio State to take over the defense at Penn State reset the coordinator market, as the Nittany Lions agreed to break the $3 million per year ceiling in awarding him $3.1 million annually.

With the information currently available on coordinator salaries, the pay bump for Durkin puts him as the second highest paid coordinator in college football (tied with Blake Baker), as the top several spots are owned by defensive play callers.

A few notable defensive statistics for Durkin's defense at Auburn after a 5-7 finish this fall:

  • 8th in opponent scrimmage plays 10+ yards
  • 18th in yards per play
  • 31st in red zone score percentage
  • 27th in run defense
  • 50th in sacks
  • 52nd in pass defense
  • 57th in opponent 3rd down conversion percentage
  • 71st in TFLs
  • 104th in turnovers gained
  • 120th in turnover margin

More SEC bitchassness

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — As the SEC reviews ways to halt field and court storming, Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne has come up with a proposal, according to a recent interview.

"I truly believe [in forfeiting wins] — if we said that the home team, if they storm the field or the court, they're going to lose that game right then and there, that will stop it."

Byrne is still so broken up about Vandy and Tenn beating Alabama and rushing the field

Get over it, bitch.

So...if we go storm OU's field, they have to forfeit? Interesting...

If the Cotton Bowl is stormed, is it a tie?  Do both teams get losses?

Assuming Byrne is responsible for De Boer... he def needs some other topic of conversation making noise. He's prolly just getting ahead of spring practice.

Yep. He’s a salty bitch. He should stick to his dad’s discussions on bass boats in the stadium and secret newsletters.

Nebraska cancelled it due to construction and reduced capacity at home or something lame

Texas & OU paid a $15 Million application fee and a $12.5 Million transition fee, ($27.5 Million total) to join the SEC.

The SEC fiscal year ended August 31, 2024, before Texas & OU played any game in any sport in the SEC.

The SEC "paid" Texas & OU $27.5 Million, or reimbursed them for the $27.5 Million in "fees" paid in advance.

In total, Texas and OU joined the SEC for $0.

So far, the SEC has been worth every cent we paid for.

Apparently it's $500k for each game, so $1M total.

Nebraska must pay $1 million buyout; it’s $500,000 for each game https://t.co/IjLuW9JFp4

CBS has published it's SEC win totals: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/2025-sec-win-totals-odds-picks-predictions-for-every-team-as-alabama-georgia-texas-lead-pack/

Bama - 9.5

Pig - 5.5

Barn - 7.5

Gators - 6.5

UGA - 9.5

UK - 4.5

LSU - 8.5

MSU - 3.5 (0 conference wins projected)

Misery - 7.5

OU - 6.5

Ole Miss - 8.5

USCe - 7.5

Vols - 9.5

Aggies - 7.5

Vandy - 4.5

Texas:

Over/under 9.5

Wins: San Jose State, UTEP, Sam Houston, at Florida, Oklahoma, at Kentucky, at Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Texas A&M
Losses: at Ohio State, at Georgia

Analysis: Before we discuss Arch Madness, let's focus on a few issues the Longhorns must address this offseason. Texas breaks in a new offensive line and must replace two of its top three receivers and two stellar defensive tackles. That said, the Longhorns have recruited exceptionally well and hit on some big pickups in the transfer portal, setting Arch Manning up for a big debut season as the full-time starting quarterback.

Many will project Texas' season based on its performance in the season opener at Ohio State, but we'll use that as a barometer rather than a judgment call. In fact, we're picking a loss. The toughest games on the schedule are at Georgia and Florida. We see a path to 10 wins, but barely. Pick: Over 9.5 (-200)

I love me some Kiffin. But didn't they just buy all the transfers out of the portal last year.

Bordeaux asked coaches for recruiting tips. Kirby Smart: "Relationships." Lane Kiffin: "Money. NIL. Like that Georgia coach over there. He just out-pays everybody." 💀💀💀 https://t.co/qPGYzUpKDt

Looks like the SEC is considering doing a flex schedule to keep 8 games but save secondary rivalries.

But, even if it stays at eight, that doesn’t mean Alabama-Tennessee, Auburn-Georgia or Texas-Texas A&M must go on the chopping block. Sankey made that clear Tuesday.

one of these things is not like the others

what if one of these games *SHOULD* go on the chopping block?

ACC is still on 8 conference games. However, many of those schools play a rivalry with SEC schools. So you can see why both are reluctant to go to 9.
