Not sure where to post this but Diego Pavia’s attorneys today have advanced their case against the NCAA to give him a 7th year of eligibility. The NCAA position appears to be so weak, they will win.

Yeah... Pavia's atty's going for a 7th season for him

Wow, Pavia's attorney is saying that unless the rules are not found to be subject to antitrust they're going to stack on a challenge to the redshirt rule and asking for an injunction so Pavia can play in 2026.Had a feeling that would be the case given some of the briefing.

Cam Rising got at least 7 years, didn't he?

He'll probably make more money playing year 7 than in the NFL.

Unless he makes some type of massive jump up the board to first day or 2nd...guessing he might if he continues.

The NCAA has typically won the cases involving eligibility. It’s an internal manner that they decide as a private organization. I don’t think Pavia’s team will win, they’re just throwing shit at the wall

Just approve the 5 to play 4 rule and be done with it.

I mean, Pavia is only playing now because the NCAA lost (at least temporarily) an eligibility case involving the exact same question (i.e., whether the NCAA can prohibit players who played four years of football total in NCAA + junior college).

Sources: The SEC will reveal Tuesday *all* opponents for every team in its new 9-game schedule for football in 2026. The 3 "permanent" rivals will be referred to as "annual opponents," which will be reviewed every 4 years.

Opponents, but not locations??

Since these are still students, doesn’t the university have a limit on how many years you take to graduate? In’t it 5 years for bachelors and 2 years for masters? Also, you need to be pretty good in studies to get admitted to masters. So, a maximum of 7 years? If someone wants to do a PhD in addition or instead of masters, you have to be a very good student. In other words, being in a university should naturally limit the number of years one can spend there even if NCAA completely loses any say in the eligibility duration and hence cannot become a professional league of its own.

Personally I don't think he should get a 7th - he will have 2 years at NMSU and 2 years at Vandy.  He used up his 4 years.  Goodbye Diego, get a job.

For UT, will it be OU, Texas A&M, and ... Arkansas? Or?

Gotta be. Probably the easiest school to pick 3 for.

Easiest also because those 3 schools have us as their first choice.

To clarify, we're gonna find out who UT's 3 rivals are for the next 4 years (hopefully, it'll never deviate from OU, A&M, and Arky). Do we also get to see the remaining SEC opponents for the next 4 years, too? If so, this is almost worth watching.

I look forward to playing the other SEC bluebloods; TN, LSU, Bama, and maybe Ole Miss.

#2025

I think it's all opponents and locations. Dates for 2026 are going to be in December. I don't it's just who is each team's rivals. I think it's going to be 2 years of home and away against one set of 6 SEC teams and your 3 rivals. Then it will flip to a new set of 6 SEC teams that aren't your 3 rivals.

The show will provide the match-ups and sites of SEC football games for the next four years. The dates of games for the 2026 SEC football season will be announced in December.

Not sure if this is verified, but if so, LSU has the worst draw (and by worst, I mean no matchups to be excited about, not hardest teams). And no Florida/Tennessee seems strange.

No Florida-lsu is even stranger. It looks like they valued competitive balance over historical rivalry in some cases.

I guess the SEC just can’t quit that A&M-LSU game

Weird take. Of all the annual rivals ours were the easiest.

#2034

Ha. I called that Alabama not getting LSU on the pods thread and they would instead get Mississippi State both for balance and because it's one of their longest running rivalries. OU and Ole Miss is better than OU and Florida that people were guessing before.

They get plenty excited for ole miss, it’s somewhat surprisingly damn bitter

A&M - Missouri doesn't make a lot of sense to me...

Why isn't it A&M/ou?

They had to give Missouri 3 rivals.    ou clearly because big 8 days,  then  aggy because they have been in the same conference for 30 years.

and finally piggy because they share a border.

ou and Arkansas make sense and can be rooted in some sort of logic. Your claim about A&M is just your opinion.

The good thing about this scheduling model is those games will still happen regularly though. LSU/Florida will still happen every 2 years and each will host once every 4.

Not ideal, a lot of those games should really happen every year, but at least it’s not the old SEC where you can go ten plus years and not host a team in your own conference.

#2045

Right. LSU/Florida and Alabama/LSU are still going to happen and the two schools might want to swap rivals after the 4 years are over.

Plus reevaluating every 4 years is a huge plus.

I doubt either school wanted that. A&M already has a tough schedule with Texas and LSU. Adding OU would create too much imbalance.

Couldn’t you say the same about ours? Or anyone for that matter…

Arkansas is our Miss State. If we can't beat them year after year, we're in massive trouble. aggy only lost to Arkansas 1 time since joining the SEC. I may be missing it but I don't see anyone playing 3 consistent top 25 teams in their 3 rivals. I'm more surprised Arkansas didn't get aggy versus Mizzou but Mizzou at least there's regionality.
