December 19, 20241 yr Author VANDY Diego Pavia granted injunction, opens door for JuCo athletes to gain extra eligibility If Diego Pavia can play one year of JuCo ball and four years at the NCAA level, what's stopping everyone else? Zach Barnett 15 hours ago Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia was granted an injunction on Wednesday that could bring significant change to college athletics and another blow to the NCAA's status quo. Judge William L. Campbell, Jr., ruled Wednesday that Pavia can begin preparations for the 2025 season after the NCAA's existing rules would have exhausted his eligibility. Pavia played two seasons at New Mexico Military Institute, two at New Mexico State, and then this current season at Vanderbilt. Pavia argued that the NCAA should not be allowed to count Pavia's New Mexico Military Institute years against him, since NMMI is not an NCAA institution. While not a binding ruling, Judge Campbell does not disagree. He wrote Wednesday that the NCAA's argument for counting junior college years toward an athlete's eligibility clock "falls flat." Pavia's lawyers said he stands to make $1 million at Vanderbilt or another school in 2025. While not official, Wednesday's injunction allows him to begin negotiations to play next season. “While the Court’s ruling does not restrict where Diego can play next season, he loves Vanderbilt and Coach Lea,” Ryan Downton, Pavia's lawyer, said in a statement. “So long as he receives an appropriate NIL package, I expect to see him in the black and gold for as long as he has eligibility remaining and Jerry Kill and Tim Beck are coaching in Nashville.” Wednesday's ruling is about much more than a single player potentially gaining another year of eligibility. Just as a court ruling ended the NCAA's ability to enforce its transfer rules, and a separate ruling ended the NCAA's ability to enforce its NIL policy, the Pavia case could end the NCAA's ability to enforce its eligibility rules. If Pavia can return in 2025, why not 2026? And if Pavia can play two years for a 2-year school and four more for a 4-year school, why not everyone else? And if that's the case, how can the NCAA enforce its eligibility rules on anyone at all?
December 19, 20241 yr Author 4 hours ago, LTtxfan said: The SEC and Netflix have teamed up with a behind-the-scenes look at the 2024 football season, featuring 10 of the conference’s 16 schools, including Tennessee on its way to a College Football Playoff berth. The series is produced by the same company that produced other Netflix sports projects, including “Full Swing,” which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the PGA Tour, and “Formula 1: Drive to Survive.” Netflix said it will air next summer in eight 45-minute episodes. The participating schools are Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, a source briefed on the show’s details said. The production was reported by The Athletic in early June, with neither side confirming because a deal wasn’t done. Netflix went forward after securing agreements with more than half of the conference’s schools. All 16 SEC schools were given the option to participate, said SEC spokesman Herb Vincent, who indicated the series could go beyond this year. “When a majority of the member schools indicated an interest in participating, the SEC proceeded with Netflix on production of the series with the understanding that schools can opt in or out of participation in subsequent years,” Vincent said. In a release, Netflix said the series “places viewers inside some of college football’s most storied programs in the SEC through unfiltered access to their coaches and players on and off the field: on the buses, in the locker rooms, at the barbershops, around the fire pits, running out of the tunnels, and more.” There was initially some reluctance from SEC teams, concerned about giving an outside network too much access, sources around the conference have said. But there was also some worry that if the SEC balked, Netflix would go to the Big Ten, and ultimately the conference and majority of schools were attracted to the chance to advertise their programs in a different way. “This behind-the-scenes docuseries will bring all the drama and pageantry of Southeastern Conference Football to a worldwide Netflix audience,” SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. “Football in the SEC will be presented in a way never seen before through the elite storytelling skills of Box To Box, the content studio that has produced numerous award-winning Netflix docuseries. We are excited about this new delivery of content for SEC fans everywhere.”

They know they can’t really claim us as SEC, nor can they acknowledge that Texas has repeatedly shat upon the SEC dominance argument over the past six years. So yeah, go ahead and tell yourselves that the Tennessee loss set that argument back if it makes you feel better. Mentioning Texas would have ruined the already weak bit.

SMU and Indiana didn’t beat anybody. Also if not Tennessee than who? - fOSU should be embarrassed that Tennessee invaded their stadium. Their fans put Day on the hotseat not ESPN. - fOSU cares too much about the Michigan game. - Sankey had a good plan, but the other commissioners blew it up and we got what we got.

Yeah, they went all in on the Vol Invasion blowing up in their faces. Their jackassery has well documented by the Columbus and national press. I pray to God we never play them in a meaningful game in Austin. They’re the closest thing the SEC has to Buckeyes fan. Truly hilarious the most insufferable fanbases, sans aggy, met in a playoff game. I’ll agree SEC Shorts really hasn’t figured out to make fun of Texas. They did a McConaghey locking himself in the press room gag after the home loss to Bama and it didn’t really pan. The voice was spot on though.

January 5Jan 5 Author MIZZU... Missouri has bolstered its defense with the transfer addition of safety Jalen Catalon, an all-conference selection at UNLV, a source confirmed to ESPN. Catalon earned first-team All-Mountain West honors in 2024, when he led the Rebels with five interceptions and finished second on the team with 96 tackles, to go along with a forced fumble and four pass breakups. He helped UNLV return to the Mountain West championship game and win the Art of Sport LA Bowl against Cal. The transfer to Missouri marks a return to the SEC for the 5-foot-11, 205-pound Catalon. The Tigers will be Catalon's fourth college team after starting his career at Arkansas, where he earned first-team All-SEC honors as a redshirt freshman in 2020, and was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award. Catalon struggled with injuries the next two seasons before transferring to Texas, where he started four games and appeared in eight in 2023. He then headed to UNLV and reunited with coach Barry Odom, whom he had played under at Arkansas. On3 and 247 Sports first reported Missouri's addition of Catalon, who began his career in 2019 and will be playing in his seventh college season next fall. Catalon, 23, has 10 career interceptions and five forced fumbles.

You went 9-3 and were were in a 6-way tie for 4th. You weren't even the first SEC team out of the CFP You deserved nothing. You lost to a shitty LSU team and scored 3 points against Ole Miss
