I actually love the LSU-A&M pairing. It's like a guy who insists that he doesn't like this particular girl who is really into him, but they keep going home together after parties. He will adamantly deny that they're in a relationship, but she has no shame and is going to turn that series of hook ups into them being a couple.

Score one for the ugly girl, looks like she got her man. At least for the 4 years.

So, would it really be a big deal to keep all rivalries, have unbalanced fixed opponents, and just make a schedule out of the remains?   AI can do everything now.  Do we really care if one team has 3 permanent opponents and another has 4 or 5?

Can't wait to see the hallucinations on this one. Alabama playing Sewanee and Georgia being triple booked on Week 3.

Each school playing every other school home and away every two years is so great. It reminds me of what was great about the Big 12 starting out with getting Nebraska every two years.

Interesting that they're saying 2026 schedules have cases where the teams might play in the same location in 2025 and 2026. I bet that's what happens with Arkansas coming to DKR twice.

Home/away getting determined by OOC rivalry home and aways is also interesting as that affects Florida and Georgia greatly since they're already losing a home game every other year for the neutral site game.

The last line in the SEC press release is targeted directly at ATM or Arkansas, or both. Not saying only them, but certainly at least one of them. They can both eat shit, regardless.

The last sentence on the second page about some teams having to return to the same venue in '26.....the implosion on the farm if one of them is Aggy in Austin will be glorious.

I think it will be Arkansas but if aggy had to do two trips to DKR, it would be awesome just to watch their aggy heads explode.

Yeah but without all the teams we really didn't care about playing like Houston, SMU, Tech, and Baylor.

Ole Miss/OU is just odd

They had to preserve the historical rivalries first so some oddball matchups were inevitable.

Sould have been aggy-pig IMHO and have Mizzou play LSU.

they actually have a pretty long history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LSU–Texas_A%26M_football_rivalry

I'm not surprised that they preserved that one. They played almost every year from 1942 to 1995 and the game was dropped once aggy joined the Big XII.

Fuck Tech and fuck Baylor. They can rot.

Don't really dislike SMU or Houston but am not interested in playing them anymore either.

You left off TCU, but fuck them too.

I hope we continue to schedule Rice. They're a cupcake, but they come with history and respect them as a school if not a football program.

They deserve it, since they whined until they got us in CS in 2024 after having us there in 2011

UK/VU should be paired to guarantee at least 1 SEC win for either of them.

Looks like additional language in the home/away construction to ensure Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia and Florida always have 4 home SEC games (making sure the neutral site game is ‘home’ in the year where we were supposed to have 5).

Reading the release it seems like home and away over a 4 year period but playing every opponent every 2 years. So it may not be a simple deal where we play LSU home and away for 2 years and then 2 years off. It could be we play LSU in Baton Rouge in 2026 and they come to Austin in 2028.

I thought it was somewhere else confirmed that would happen, the 6 we see in ‘26 will be a different 6 in ‘27, then ‘28 and ‘29 are the flips.

I must've misread the SEC press release. It was my understanding we'd play errbody home & home every 4 years. To your point, it'd be great if we see all SEC teams every 2 years.

We'll find out tomorrow

I misread it too. I thought they meant home away, two years off, home away. I think it's more what hornbri said which will be really interesting and awfully weird.

It's a step in the right direction but it pretty much eliminates the potential "revenge game" factor.  If Texas beats Tennessee in Austin in 2026 but the two teams don't play again until 2028 in Knoxville, the makeup of both teams will be largely different.  Especially in the NIL/portal era.  I'd prefer to play in back-to-back years so teams can form some mini-rivalries.

But it's still better than prior SEC scheduling practices where things could happen like A&M only playing Georgia once in 12 years.

💯

Honestly not bad...no team got completely fucked with tough opponents, or got off too easy, either.

The rotation of the other 12 teams and how often we'll play makes a lot more sense.

Not sure we can continue to without divisions...but this make a lot of sense so we see everyone without having division games taking up the whole schedule.

I’m not worried about divisions. I think eventually we will move into 4 team pods and have a 2 round SEC playoff for the championship

But that requires a change in NCAA rules, I believe

Correct.

i just came here to post this.
I think it’s stupid, but that’s what they were planning to do.

I think you get more excitement by having a rematch of a great game immediately in the next year than having a gap year

They are going to do something stupid. Just watch. It's. going to be something like this:

Texas and Alabama: 2026 - Home, 2029 Away

Texas and Auburn: 2027 - Home, 2028 Away.

Edit, - nevermind, it says we would play everyone at least 1 time every 2 years, so they can't do something that stupid.

pig: petrino sex scandal in 2012

aggy: since they joined in 2012 they have showed their ass every year and when they pitched a fit about us joining they fucked up the script and the timeline for the entire league

has pig done anything since 2012 comparable?

if pig is back to back, it's to prevent aggy from having the opportunity to embarrass the league agan

if aggy is back to back, the league is punishing aggy for being aggy, and rightly so

This (the bold above) is where a big chunk of money is being left on the table. It won't be in the next few seasons, but it's coming before long. They just have to figure out how they're going to do it, and whether they can do it before or after the "new league", or whatever we're calling it today, finally emerges.

I assume it requires the NCAA to approve a 14th game so you can do a 2 round conference playoff

3 non-conf games
9 SEC games
1 v 4 and 2 v 3 SEC semifinals
SEC conf champ game

+ CFP games

I own a few Russell Athletic shorts and T-shirts, too. I think they're referencing RA getting out of the football uniform business. Many SEC teams used to wear 'em back in the 70's and 80's before Nike took over.

I'm pretty sure the SEC and B1G have already told the NCAA to fuck off on football oversight.

GaTech was the last Russell Athletic-sponsored team back in 2017, I think.

How far can Georgia Tech ride 'new energy' and frustration from 2017?

This.

Since they care so much about tradition, we can go back to games in Austin in even years and College Station in odd years like it was for about a century.

I don’t like this shit at all.

So we go:

-Texas State

-Ohio State

-UTSA

to open and then we know we 9 of the following 10 teams:

-OU (lock)

-ATM (lock)

-Arkansas (lock)

-Alabama

-Auburn

-Ole Miss

-LSU

-Missouri

-South Carolina

-Tennessee

That is going to be a gnarly bitch of a schedule. Should be a lot of fun. The missed opponent is going to be a really big deal. I'm guessing all of the teams that Texas has rarely played will be on there, SCar, Tenn, Auburn, Ole Miss. Then you have the game in Baton Rouge that makes up for the 2020 miss. So you're left with an argument over ratings and money for UT/Bama versus the fact that it's been longer ago that Texas last played Missouri.

I'm guessing no Missouri. Wow.

1 minute ago, closetojumping said:

TV ratings say no Missouri

Competitive balance says Missouri over Alabama to soften our schedule a little

But TV and money always decides.
