Those big $$$ contracts the MLB teams give out isn't for playing for the US in the WBC. I think we may see teams add clauses to protect against this in the future. Injuries do happen, but if you're going to get injured to the point where you can't perform your job, then you should be getting injured on company time.

MLB has sure spent a lot of time promoting the international game and this tournament for it not to be on "company time". And hey who runs this tournament? That's right. MLB. Come on. So are MLB teams going to have their players blocked from playing in a MLB tournament? Destroy their own product? Seems unlikely.

And besides how many WBCs have their been? And how many injuries have occurred in the games themselves?

That 102 fb with that low 90’s splitter and slider gotta be hard to see, I think the Mets signed the wrong Japanese pitcher.

Well maybe he’s not that unhittable. Fuck yeah.

Think maybe he got a little too brave with that velocity

That was an interesting sequence by Urquidy.

nibble on the edges (and not be all that close) to Nootbaar , and then groove 93 first pitch fastball down the middle.

coming off the mound he knew he got away with one and he sure as hell did.

Damn even ohtani showing emotions

I get it’s not as big of a deal here but the rumors of the Mexican prez showing up tomorrow if they win tonight only gives more credit to this being a big deal

Ohtani showed more passion on that double than he has in all his years with the angels combined.

The fighting Ohtani-sans are in deep shit.  Fox not gonna like it if this holds.

There are 25x more Mexicans in the U.S.  than Japanese. I think Fox will be plenty happy if Mexico is in the championship game.
