March 18, 20232 yr Just now, The Earl of Texas said: Just win, baby. Also, the New Orleans Privateers is a fuckin sweet name. Their uniforms were pretty tight as well.
March 18, 20232 yr Another night where we smoked several balls right at dudes or were knocked down by a wind that will be much different 3 weeks from now. I still think there’s some juice in this offense will be see once there is a some positive regression.

March 18, 20232 yr Well, the boys had to grind one out last night. Pitching started out good enough but got better as the game progressed. Offensive produced runs in key situations. Great win.

Not sure why Pierce would replace LBJ for Morehouse and leave Sthele given the data thus far. I haven't seen the rotation for this weekend posted, so I could be incorrect. 11 hours ago, hobbes2702 said: So impressed with what Woody has done so far. 10 hours ago, WBT said: I just wish we would have brought him in while Tulo was still here For sure. Now, can we go get a legit hitting coach, please?! Hopefully, that's what happens with the fourth paid assistant.

It’s the 3rd paid assistant that’s new. And the 3rd guy for us right now is a hitting guy. Was previously the director of hitting and pitching development last year.

Might be one of those things where he feels we need a good late inning reliever more than a decent 3rd starter, and Morehouse fits that late inning reliever role more than Sthele.
March 18, 20232 yr At this time, I’d almost want to pair sthele and Hurley as Sunday guys, and expect each to go 3 or 4. If there is enough in the pen to do so.
March 18, 20232 yr Even if the plan is for LBJ to be the Saturday guy eventually, this week he had to be the Sunday guy after throwing 50+ pitches on Tuesday. Edited March 18, 20232 yr by Hookem2147

Right, this would also make sense. My fear is that Pierce will do what he tends to do and leave him in too long though before bringing in Hurley to take over. @Hookem2147's point above maybe adds some clarity as to this week's potential plan. Yeah, this a good idea/possibility.Shore seems Morehouse is the closer with LBJ being the weekend guy. It will be interesting to see how Saturdays and Sundays are allocated. Do we go second best Saturday or hedge a bit to take advantage on Siunday.
March 18, 20232 yr Flogging the dead horse a bit, but I wonder why Carlson can't snag a start vs. a lefty.
March 18, 20232 yr UNO pitcher's stats are greatly aided by scoreless starts against Brown and Florida A&M. He sucks. Boom. 2-0
March 18, 20232 yr Alright, this is where coaches make their money. 3 solid innings from Sthele. You know 4-5 innings is when the wheels typically fly off. How far do you keep pushing?
March 18, 20232 yr Other than the meatball laid in for the leadoff hitter in the 2nd inning, Sthele looking good through 3 innings.
March 18, 20232 yr This is why we keep going back to Sthele. Talent is definitely there. 92-95, spotting up with a great changeup. Edited March 18, 20232 yr by Hookem2147
March 18, 20232 yr IIRC, the wheels came off after 4 scoreless against Manhattan. He's throwing better today against more proficient hitters.

March 18, 20232 yr That probably needs to be it for Sthele. But damn that was good. That stuff was weekend starter stuff.
March 18, 20232 yr If this is who Powell is gonna be now then this lineup has some potential. Now, you’re talking.
March 18, 20232 yr Just to follow up on Powell, his first two years in 2020, 2021. He was a combined 7-22 with 3 doubles and 2 homers. Only 8 ABs last year. One of those ABs was a key RBI single versus USF to help send us to Omaha. No idea about his story, but in limited opportunities he has flashed potential. It’s hard to see him hitting.400 on the season, but he shows a lot of positives at the plate. Selection, bat control.
