Marquette outscored Michigan State 33-6 from 3-point range.

And lost by nine

That’s special.

Welcome to the Shaka Smart Experience.

Izzo is such a great coach.

Smart will never be anything but mediocre.

So you think Shaka hasn't peaked yet?  Interesting.

I missed the breathing bit. Am I to assume this clown told his players to do breathing exercises during the game?

For 15 seconds during a timeout with about 3 minutes to play. I don't remember the score, but I think Marquette was down by one.

this.  his problem is and always has been crunch time.  He doesn't know what to do and gets outcoached.  It happened in the Big12.  Big East is more his speed.

Under 4 media timeout, MU down 1. First 15 second he lead them in breathing exercises. Izzo coached his team how to keep scoring and go on a 8-0 run or so after the TO.

Narrator: it didn’t work.

Barnes/Izzo 2.0 20 years later?

The bracket is opening up for Rick big time.  Izzo is gonna be a bit tough but Tennessee is the better team.

Any success Shaka has ever had--or will ever have--must be credited to his assistants. He's a decent recruiter but a clueless tactician.

Fucking breathing exercises ...

If you thought Tenn/Duke was physical…

yeah I would love Tenn/MSU

IIRC, Izzo has a good track record vs the SEC in tournament play.

They just talked about how good he is with one day of prep time. If Izzo gets by KSU, Barnes is in trouble

He'll probably watch tape and shutdown Nowell.

Barnes beat him in the EE when we got to the FF. He was a 7 seed then too I think.

Michigan State is going to the Final Four. Look at that bracket.

KSU will beat them and Barnes will beat KSU.  Looking like 3 SEC teams in the FF with Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas and then UH/UT.

beating Izzo's Sparty and Jim Calhoun's UCONN team in the S16 and E8 is essentially as good as it gets for that era. super impressive FF run.

Does Barnes have a Naismith winning point guard at Tennessee?
