So I bought this today.    Will be at the house in a week.   1974 full engine rebuilt in 2022 with upgraded bits.

  • Been wanting to do this for a while, had a terrible time finding what I wanted, but now it's done. I picked up a 1979 Camaro over the weekend. Runs strong and drives, has a 350. The interior is...not

  • 4 months later, finally some paint.

You mustang guys should look at the ride tech street grip suspension kit. I put one on my firebird and it’s fantastic.

Looks like that video was filmed in my neighborhood actually.

The Ride Tech system is on the pricey side, $2,500.   I've seen complete new front ends for that or less.  Not sure what makes it so pricey. Nothing really high tech other than better materials at the connection points (IMO).

Yea it was pricey but I just liked that it was all engineered to work together.

Maybe I could have saved a few bucks and pieced it all together myself. Regardless, I’m super happy with it. Rides like a new car.

Did lower the front a little more than I was expecting. Stance looks great but I had to drop a tire size.

You installed one ?  Made a huge difference ?  Was it an easy install, everything fits correctly ?   I would not want to go to a smaller tire. Did you have over sized tires before the rebuild ?

That is still a very pricey bunch of hardware.  I'm trying to figure out why its $2,500 though.  I've seen a couple other similar systems at almost half the cost.  That means nothing till I really compare them part for part though.

I didn’t do it myself. There’s a local shop I use. Seemed like they said things fit fine.

Huge. difference, like night and day. But my shocks, springs and bushings were pretty bad. And yes I had bigger tires. But just know it will be lower.

  • 2 weeks later...

Did some work on the 1969 superbee this weekend. Removed the steering gearbox box, going to send it and pitman arm off this week for rebuild. Had to remove starter and exhaust manifold and jack up left side of engine to get clearance to get the box out (36lbs)

Sandblasted and painted a extra 68-69 hemi bell housing i had laying around and listed it for sale on Ebay. Also sandblasted rear brake drums and repainted those. Planning on redoing rear brake system in the coming weeks. Need emergency brake cables before that adventure begins.532de946545274e7a54367e0ccc7c11f.jpg611a60cd39aa40bbabb2da0038dfacdc.jpgdac85efbc8fabfea933f0bf3bc06ea96.jpgd7040f9c72ecc8573b9a397a14a7f8a4.jpg

Been researching the history of my superbee today. Got in contact with the best friend of the owner (he died of cancer in 2010) and we talked about it and he kept some old pictures from the late 80s-early 90s when they owned it. This is around the Huntsville AL area. I've submitted a records request at the DMV for all AL records in my search for the orginal owner and driveline. bf0bcb74dab06df82463e834f787e361.jpg

I'm sorry... I don't get your point .....  my stainless steel and billet steel upgrades are always really really necessary "repairs".....

I'm just chuckling a bit at the "BIG MONEY FLIP!!!! OMG!!!" model applied to old cars.

Smart people dont get into the car hobby to make money. It's a legit passion and it cost...especially horsepower.

Oh yeah, I get it.

Smart people dont get into the car hobby to make money. It's a legit passion and it cost...especially horsepower.

The only two guys I know that make money in classic cars are my mechanic and Craig Jackson.

You know how to make a small fortune with classic cars?

Start with a big fortune.

Can also be applied to boats, aviation, and any number of other big toy hobbies.

This is a corollary to "auto racing is the practice of turning money into noise."

I come to this thread to escape reality.

Stop slapping my face with it........dammit !!

I could blow all my money on golf but wtf would be the point of that?

It’s ain’t reality that’s slapping your face

Pulled the dana 60 out of the car today. Plan on rebuilding it to stock specs, which was 4.10 gears. Going to sand it all down and prime and paint. Got new springs coming in the mail.

In the mean time my original hemi brake booster came in the mail Friday. That's on hold until I get my dash back from instrument specialities next spring. abdfe64f3c3ef4eeac63a8b7e159dad9.jpg4f667541d7db7df5538d9bcc33882d50.jpg

Speaking of past on shaggy. Here was my 70 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 4 speed car. Real R/T big block purple with white interior. Sold in 2016 to a fellow in SoCal. Before I sold it I changed our the front and rear passenger side floor pans and took the interior back to factory white and rebuilt the front suspension

I found a date coded 70HP engine block in Santa Clarita and dropped it in (had a 69 block in it) before I sold it. Car had 81k original miles. While I was deployed I was able to get copies of DMV paperwork from all the states on it to document the cars history. Fun ride for the past 11 yrs. 3a46af83b1cb29c507df7eaf7c7fb160.jpg4884077b57b7a4f5d13e84761d81b551.jpg5b9dd67b06c8853e8050660161021b74.jpg1a7b116be1e204b9fe2c6307cbacde2c.jpg1f17a9f4eb9ca74420fc291f2226247d.jpg66e946513871981a795dd69942a3f038.jpg

I remember changing a broke leaf spring on my MGA in college using old textbooks as a jack stand

I remember changing a broke leaf spring on my MGA in college using old textbooks as a jack stand
Removing this was sketchy as the car has no weight in the ass end and the motor is installed so it took some finesse. Had to put extra car parts in the trunk to weigh it down. Got confirmation today my new leaf spring and shackle kit is enroute and my correct radiator got delivered today.

Yep a seesaw with the car would suck...

Funny you mention that.  I was cruising Netflix the other day, thought I'd check it out and ended up watching several episodes.  I enjoyed it, but if I have criticize it for one thing, the chick in the show is too hot to be the "engine specialist."  I can appreciate T&A as much as the next guy, and I'll admit she was a major reason why I continued to watch, but come on.  It's been done in all the other shows with hot chicks working in the garage.  They'll show a picture of her standing next to her dad's hot rod to show that she grew up wrenching on cars.  Can she degree a cam?  Know the firing order of a SBC?

Just busting balls.  I enjoyed the show. But she's still too hot.

Fuckin LOL!  I've never admitted to anyone because it sounds too fucking stupid but I was changing rear coil springs on my Chevelle in college and use a thick phone book under a bottle jack to lift the car.  It was all good until it started to move.  Dumbassery.

Mine wasn't really stupid just necessity - I didn't have jack stands with me at college and textbooks worked really well. We ought to have a thread on stupid things we have done on cars.

Like say spending hundreds of dollars on an EOM part that probably cost $10 back in 1965 ?  That kind of stupidity ?

727 HP 68 Firebird

Wow. Where’s the rest of the car?

The rest was just a very stock 68 Firebird, not much to write home about.  The engine block chain was by far the coolest feature of that vehicle. The were two  68's sitting next to that one that were gorgeous though.

I'm going to Carlisle, PA. next Friday for their annual Fall show.  Acres and areas and acres of classic cars and car parts.  Don't really need any parts right now, but the cars there are worth the drive for the day.

A shout out to Mother Mopar: if there's a part yer having a hard time finding chances are it'll be at that show, let me know your holy grail part, and I'll keep an eye peeled.

That's one car show I've never attended but have always wanted to go. Beside the Mopar nationals, Carisles is the best place to get parts. Appreciate the help man, but I'm good on parts now, just need to sell some of the extra parts I have

Since we're on the topic been hustling on the rear suspension on the hemi bee. Hookem b6502d9e6bebb67fb3d5ff0dd1b22003.jpg0184bf95e6717a8d5835e302b79dad48.jpgaf881e16aca02bdc8dcfbe2811b8f05d.jpg

Cool, yep, I got a 4 speed Toploader I'd like to sell since replacing it with a newer 5 speed.  It'll help offset a couple dollars of "investment", and the wife will stop nagging me about that thing sitting on the garage floor, looking all dirty and shit.

I'll sell parts to buy new parts but sometimes it hard to find parts around here. I've thought about a overdrive tranny but I just love the feel of high rpms.. make for quicker fluid flushes but all part of the love. Good luck at Carisles man...hope you find what you need.

The problem is I NEED a 1967 Bronco, the other problem is I have a wife.

Do you REALLY need her?

One of my twins wanted a classic car for his 16th birthday, we found a 65 mustang in great shape and he freakin loves it. I’m looking forward to the updates and upgrades over the next few years. The other twin wanted and got a classic square body pick up that is pretty slick too.
