August 30Aug 30 My red 1960 MGA was a cop magnet, especially around the West Campus by UT. Averaged 2 tickets a year with that thing. The coeds loved it though.

August 30Aug 30 Popular Post Warbirds and Wheels 2025 in the books. It was quite rainy so there was low attendance for planes, cars and people.
August 30Aug 30 This was a pretty cool AMC rally car. Air intake via the cab because outside too dirty. Nominally an 8th AF paint job because his grandpa was a belly gunner on a B-17.
August 30Aug 30 Popular Post We won a plaque. Which was pretty cool.**Even though we left before judging because we wanted to catch the game. Fewer than 30 cars showed up! Gotta be in it to win it! Also pays to be nice to the old guys at the registration table.
September 1Sep 1 less people makes for better pictures. I could probably make room for that white Auburn.
September 2Sep 2 less people makes for better pictures. I could probably make room for that white Auburn. Not a real Auburn. It’s a kit on a Ford chassis. But still, pretty sweet.
September 2Sep 2 Author @Chad Fuck Where was this? It's the kind of show I like going to but did not know about it. I would have been at my son's soccer game anyway.

With everything being rebuilt (engine, transmission, suspension) it is literally a "brand new" 63 year old sports car. Forgot that you can drive fast with top down when you have 105 HP pushing only 2000 pounds. Which is why the first Miata used the MGA as a model. As far as avoiding police - I have a "friendly" speedometer. We did not rebuild it and it seems to think 55 is 45.
September 2Sep 2 Author My speedometer is the other way. 35 is really 45. This is better than it was and according to the tables I put the correct gear on the cable but I'll just keep driving by RPM and gear until I get new differential installed.

Just an off year because of a crazy storm passing through. Just scroll up and see last years pics for a better idea of what it’s about when it’s better weather.

September 26Sep 26 There's something disproportionately satisfying about activating the high beams with your left foot.
September 26Sep 26 Speaking of headlights. I ran my battery down several times by leaving lights on. My favorite modification on my '69 C-10? A buzzer that jumps between two fuses in the fuse block, probably lights and ignition, that reminds me that the lights are still on when I turn off the truck. Cost me $10.

September 27Sep 27 I figured this thread might be the best place to ask this. My mother was running an errand this morning and the car started driving funny and the low air tire light came on. She drove to discount and they told her she had a nail in one of the front tires and that she also had a nail in each of the back tires. They said they were all placed perfectly in the middle of the tire were the same kind of mail and then it looked intentional. She drove all around Austin on Thursday parked her car in her driveway Thursday night and didn’t drive it at all on Friday. The Aaron this morning was the first time she had driven the car Since Thursday. My question for you Car guys is is there a chance that the nails could’ve been put in her tires on Thursday while she was out and about or is it more likely that they were done while it was parked in her driveway sometime between now and Thursday Maybe there’s no way to answer that question. I am just trying to figure out if some random person got mad at her while she was driving around town on Thursday or if some asshole did this to her car while it sat in her driveway.
September 27Sep 27 TPMS light = not the classic car thread! But it's hard to say. Are all three nails lin the exact same groove of the tire, or otherwise so uniform that it suggests deliberate damage? [edit - I see that you basically said as much. Can you give a little more detail about the uniformity?] I assume that your mother isn't a complete asshole who has petty enemies (this is spurned boyfriend shit, or maybe just asshole high school boys out wantonly vandalizing, etc.), and I would hope that she would remember a road rage incident severe enough that a person would go to that extent to retaliate. Unless there's some reason to suspect deliberate sabotage, I would be reluctant to conclude that's what happened. More likely than she drove through a place that had a bunch of nails - imagine a box of nails falling off a work truck. They're all going to scatter in much the same area, not each end up on the road miles apart. Edited September 27Sep 27 by Prepuce of Doom

Sadly with kids priorities changed and it stayed in garage til I unboxed it in Feb. 30 yr old paint job 390 4 spd coupe Bench seat… front end is way worse than it should be but Im not fixing that….. new owner can take it back orig or go to a more modern front end. October 4Oct 4 Mecum will be in Ft Worth at Dickie’s Arena end of the month. Son and I go every few years and I’m planning on this one. Always brings lots of cars never seen as they’re in collector garages. If I hit the lottery before the auction I will do some Jay Leno style damage, otherwise I’ll just dream:
October 5Oct 5 Went to the SCCA Runoffs at RoadAmerica yesterday and took a bunch of pictures. Some are probably better for the other "modern" thread, but I think it's stupid that we have two car threads and I'm not going to bother splitting them up.
