Nate Cohn woke up, saw the election results and is now tripling down on the NYT polls.

Fucking hilarious. Polling is dead. Get over it

On the college front, I think part of the decline is parents letting their kids fart around instead of going to get a degree but given that tuition fees are going through the roof, you can understand why parents aren't pushing 10-20-40-50K a year expenses with vigor.

Have they thought the only people answering polls are the people who answer calls from random phone numbers?

Nice to see Nate Cohn is AWOL on Threads which, by the way, is getting much much better at covering elections and political events.

A review of the "voter suppression" in Mississippi yesterday.

- Hinds County itself is required to provide ballots that amount to a minimum of 60% of the active voter count.

- Reportedly 9 of 107 precincts ran out of ballots.  One as early as 8:30 am.

- It was reported by a Hinds County Election Commissioner that the shortage was because voter turnout was "unexpectedly high".

- Actual voter turnout in Hinds County was 38%. Well below 60%.  No precinct got to 60%, in fact only one got to 50%.

- All 107 precincts were allowed to stay open an extra 2 hours.

If polls didn’t exist the narrative would be about how Republicans are in total disarray after six consecutive years of election losses and embarrassing underperformances, and their former president is now facing 91 criminal charges after inciting an insurrection. That’s reality.

I forgot how much I laughed at the time that Emerson dropped a Cameron +1 (49-48) poll right before Tuesday and everyone flipped out that the race had tightened.

Beshear won 52.5-47.4

If they haven't already, every red state is banning polling stations on college campuses for sure now.

Texas put in a bill but it never came to a vote this past session.

Give Charlie 'the Ckunt' Kirk credit...he forecasted this a decade ago.  As more and more first generation students attended college...they would begin to run for student government.  On many campuses, those Student Governments have tremendous influence on when/where/if other students can vote.  His idea was to allow this to happen, but to have student government power shift back to conservative, white legacy, pro-Greek candidates who would allow for the optics of campus voting but ensure it favored turnout for GOP candidates in certain swing distrcits/precincts.  He didn't quite have the Cambridge/Drogin analytics at the time, but he was far ahead of his peer group on his vision.  His model has been proven wrong but it took awhile and Charlie ain't going anywhere for another 40 years.  But congrats to the young people for giving a shit in an odd-numbnered year

It's a tricky problem for the GOP - tell a college student they can't do something, and they'll go out of their way to do it just to spite you.

But that's not all that happened in VA. In Loudoun County, a culture war hot spot, Dems now have a 6-seat majority on the School Board. Dems also swept the Fairfax county school board. And in Henrico, Democrats control the Board of Supervisors & School Board.
New Jersey Dems notched big wins after facing Republican attacks on cultural issues. Dems not only managed to hold onto their state legislative majorities Tuesday night but expand them. And in school board races? The entire "Parental rights" slate was defeated in Westwood.
We're not done. In a special election on Tuesday in New Hampshire, Paige Beauchemin pulled Dems within just 1 seat of erasing the GOP’s majority in the state House.Dems also won 2 of 3 school board election seats.
Moms for Liberty, the right-wing “parental rights” group advocating a hardline anti-woke agenda in America’s schools, had a rough night in Tuesday’s elections for school board seats around the country.Poor things......
Union-backed school board candidates leading many in Colorado districts following politically fraught races. Right-wing incumbents were battling for control in Woodland Park while union-supported candidates were set to prevail in Aurora, Adams 12 and Cherry Creek districts.
In Minnesota, all four candidates put forward by Moms for Liberty were wiped out in the race for the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District.
Also in North Carolina, all three Democratic endorsed candidates won their School Board races, stopping pro-Charter school, anti-teacher candidates.
And finally, in Albuquerque, New Mexico school board race, ALL Moms for Liberty supported candidates lost.
Cherelle Parker, a Democrat, Elected Mayor of Philadelphia, the first Black Mayor ever elected.

Slightly off topic, but rural New England - Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut are as Redneck and MAGA as Atascosa County.

If the Republicans had any semblance of rational leadership, they'd be scared shitless of all of the local and legislature losses they are taking.

But, MAGA gonna MAGA and focus/fixate on things that either drive up Dem turnout, or at the very least do nothing to help R's.

There’s been talk of some Ohio republicans wanting to repeal the marijuana legalization. Would they really be so stupid to overturn something that win by nearly 15 points?
