Getting his twin brother will be the key. They're both reclassifying to 2024.

He leans forward so the players can understand him better with the way he talks

It's nice when my expectations are met.  Surly always delivers.

Brock Cunningham out here looking 6'10. WTF. Image looks photoshopped or something. That or he is like 10% bigger than everyone.

Brock Cunningham will consume our opponents with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse.  He will lead us to a national championship.

He probably reads surly.  A few posters said he can’t talk good so maybe a change in posture will help his communication

Its why Wareheim always looks like this in team photos

And most importantly, can he bench 175?

Don't be silly.  The roster limit is 15.  Even if you assume multiple benchings of each player per game, he would have to make over 4 substitutions every minute.  Can't be done.

Home: ISU, KSU, OSU, UCF, Baylor, UH, OU, Tech, WV
Away: BYU, Cincinnati, KU, TCU, Baylor, UH, OU, Tech, WV

No bullshit trip to Hilton, GIA or Octagon of Doom, but not hosting KU sucks.  One more lube job at AFH on the way out.

Can't let the conference favorite have a chance to falter on the road at Moody.

Looks like we drew the top-tier teams on the road (Kansas, UH, Baylor) but also looks like we avoided the 2nd tier teams (Iowa State and Kansas State).

Iowa State and Kansas State are going to be fringe top 25ish teams so I don't think that's a terrible draw all things considered.

I see the top 5 teams in the Big 12 (in some order) as Kansas, UH, Baylor, Texas, and Kanas State.

Kansas has to play 3 (2x) in K-State, UH, and Baylor. Texas has to play 2 (2x) in UH and Baylor. Sucks just having to play Kansas on the road but don't think they screwed us or gave God's gift the easier draw.

We get Houston at home as well.

Here is what the schedule might look like, along with where I think teams will land in the preseason rankings:

  • KU - 1 - Away
  • UH - 6 - Home & Away
  • UT - 17
  • BU - 18 - Home & Away
  • TCU - 23  - Away
  • KSU - 30 - Home
  • ISU - 37 - Home
  • CINC - 38 - Away
  • OU - 40 - Home & Away
  • TT - 42  - Home & Away
  • WV - 44 - Home & Away
  • OSU - 48 - Home
  • UCF - 68 - Home
  • BYU - 70 - Away

Will WVU have enough left to be ranked at 44 in the preseason?

I've been meaning to take a closer look at WV.  They actually have done very well in the portal this year and most seem to be staying. Here is what their roster currently looks like:

  • G - Kerr Kriisa - SR - 9.9 PTS, 2.4 TRB,5.1 AST, 70 GS, 76 GP -  Transfer from Arizona (#17 Transfer)
  • G - RaeQuan Battle - SR+ - 17.7 PTS, 2.9 TRB, 0.9 AST, 35 GS, 104 GP - Transfer from Montana - 1st Team Big Sky (#43 Transfer)
  • G - Omar Silverio - SR+ - 10.9 PTS, 3.3 TRB, 1.1 AST - Transfer from Hoffstra
  • F - Quinn Slazinski - SR+ - 11.3 PTS, 5.7 TRB, 1.9 AST, 34 GS  - Transfer from Iona (#281 Transfer)
  • F - Jesse Edwards - SR+ - 14.5 PTS, 10.3 TRB, 1.6 AST, 56 GS, 95 GP - Transfer from Syracuse  - 3rd Team All ACC (#14 Transfer)
  • G - Jeremiah Bembry - SO - Redshirted - Transfer from Florida State - (#260 Transfer)
  • G - Seth Wilson - JR - 4.2 PTS, 0.9 TRB, 0.5 AST, 0 GS, 54 GP - Returning player
  • F - Pat Suemnick - JR - 1.4 PTS, 1.3 TRB, 0.1 AST, 0 GS, 37 GP - Returning player
  • G - Kobe Johnson - JR - 2.0 PTS, 1.0 TRB, 0.5 AST, 4 GS, 61 GP - Returning player
  • F - Josiah Harris - SO - 1.8 PTS, 0.9 TRB, 0.1 AST, 0 GS, 17 GP  - Returning player

Still in the portal, but may return:

  • G - Jose Perez - SR+ - 18.9 PTS, 3.2 TRB, 4.5 AST, 76 GS, 97 GP - Transfer from Manhattan - 1st Team All MAAC

Departing

  • Erik Stevenson - NBA
  • Tre Mitchell - Transfer
  • Kedrian Johnson - Graduated
  • Emmitt Matthews - Graduated
  • Joe Toussaint - Transfer
  • Jimmy Bell - Transfer
  • Mohamed Wague - Transfer
  • James Okonkwo - Transfer
  • Josiah Davis - Transfer
  • Jamel King - Transfer

Maybe having them in the 40s is too high, but they aren't going to suck IMO.  They haven't played together, but overall their roster will be one of the most experienced in the country.  Just about everyone is a senior or 5th yr senior.  They also have a couple of potential all-conference type players in Edwards and Battle.  They still could sign another player or two.

WV didn't lose Kriisa or Edwards. Both are legit.

They don't have much depth at all but their starting 5 is going to be really good. If they stay healthy, I can't see 40 teams better than them. The Big 12 is loaded again.

Terry also announced the internal promotions of three individuals on the Men's Basketball support staff. Brock Berenato was elevated to the role of Director of Video and Analytics, K.J. Conklin was promoted to Director of Player Development and Ty Larson was elevated to the role of Director of Recruiting.

Cory Schlesinger brings 14 years of sports performance coaching experience to the Texas staff, including four at the NBA level and 10 in collegiate athletics. During his four seasons in Phoenix, the Suns posted an overall record of 194-115 (.628), won two Pacific Division titles and advanced to the NBA Playoffs three times, including a run to the 2021 NBA Finals. Schlesinger worked with a trio of players in Phoenix who earned NBA All-Star Game selections, including Devin Booker (2020, 2021 and 2022), Chris Paul (2021 and 2022) and former Longhorn legend Kevin Durant (2023).

Byron Jones worked for seven seasons previously with Terry at Fresno State and brings 25 years of coaching experience to the Texas staff. He spent the past three seasons (2020-23) as an assistant coach at Troy, helping the Trojans record back-to-back 20-win seasons and double-digit victory totals in Sun Belt Conference play in each of the last two years. Jones worked as an assistant coach at Air Force for one year (2019-20) and spent seven seasons (2011-18) as an assistant under Terry at Fresno State. During his time together with Terry in Fresno, the pair led the Bulldogs to a total of 126 victories, including 20-win seasons in four of the last five years. In 2015-16, Fresno State went 25-10, won the Mountain West Conference Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001. Jones previously served as an assistant coach at Winston-Salem State (2010-11), UNC Wilmington (2002-06), Denver (1997-2002) and Eastern Kentucky (1995-97) and was a graduate assistant coach at Central Oklahoma (1993-95).

Nick Matson worked for 10 years previously with Terry at both Fresno State and UTEP and brings 13 years of experience in collegiate athletics to the Texas staff. He spent the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach at East Carolina. Matson served as an assistant coach under Terry for three years at UTEP (2018-21) and worked for seven seasons (2011-18) with Terry at Fresno State, including one year as assistant coach (2017-18) and five years as Director of Basketball Operations (2012-17).

that's gotta be a typo.  Like it's literally impossible to weigh 165 pounds with uniform and high tops on at that height.

Typical mid-August question:  When is the fucking schedule coming out? I know the Big XII is having to do some unusual adjustments but at least the non-conf. portion is always available by this point.  Da fuh?

Non-conf is definitely delayed, but not by that much.  Last season's non-conf announced on July 21.

Conference schedule was not announced until late September (9/22)

Not sure he can organize a roster but seems like Rodney can recruit.   Whaddya know?

sellign that vision even without coach Beard around

I was almost exactly that when I arrived to (not UT) college as a freshman swimmer. It's hard to be big when you get tall quickly but you put on weight in a hurry in a strength/nutrition program.

Non-conference schedule is out. The home games certainly suck balls.

here’s a better look:

It's still an ugly OOC home schedule!

"I haven't even heard of half these schools!  And this one here is dead."

Cross them off then!

Yeah, not terribly enticing to buy season tickets.  But unless we lose to the worst Louisville team in a century, we'll at least be playing Top 5 UCONN and Top 5 Marquette in pre-season.  LSU could be interesting.  But last year in the BIg XII is still gonna leave us with a very salty schedule.  Also, to be honest...I was actually not aware that Delaware State, Houston Christian, and Incarnate Word had D-1 hoops programs.  So, yey...I guess?

You can only offer so many farm-to-table vegan entrees and craft beers at Moody before people think, "And also no Kansas at home this year?  And only $1500 more a seat?  Where do I sign up?"

All that said, Like our chances to win 25+ games before the Big Dance.

Don't get me wrong, wasn't judging Coach Terry for this slate.  Literally half those games were booked and banked before he got the full-time nod.  The home part of it kinda stinks but overall, it's gonna get us the RPI/SOS/whateverthefucktheselectioncommitteedecidesisimportantthisyear.  I'm geeked up either way, just not buying pricey season tickets for this is all.

What's the deal gonna be with the new 14-team league as far as conference tourney gonna look like?  Got some big names on the block now, but what's the bracket gonna look like?   Fun to think about all the way back in August.

Yeah, this is not criticism toward RT, but that is the most uninspiring home non-con schedule I can remember. Probably going to hurt the team's computer metrics. Oh, well.

That schedule is pretty disappointing. I’ve already donated the money for my seats so I’ll be there but not really excited about there not being at least one game that’s not against the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Cross-posting a PSA ... I don't mean to spam the threads, but this is tomorrow.
