Among non-pitchers with at least 1,000 games played and 3,000 plate appearances Martin Maldonado’s .206 career batting average is the worst in MLB history.

Amazing.

The 1000 games played is the qualifier that get's him the worst, but even on AB's or PA's he's up there.

Todays a good day to make a trade

As long as it isn't for Lance Lynn

Angels are going to need a full rebuild after this season, so might as well take a chance with Ohtani before he leaves for nothing in FA. Their off-season should include trading Trout with the Rendon kicker to get out of both of those contracts.

The Angels basically traded Lee and Arrighetti for Giolito and Lopez.

Get healthy

Find another pitcher (on top of urquidy). Arms that we have need to get back on track

Make a run

Two games out with two months, a top 2 seed is very doable.

Still need a bat. Have got to get Julks/Meyers/Dubon spot out of the lineup with a legit hitter.

LF/CF don't care. Just get someone better than these guys....which shouldn't be hard

First person who says ThAtS bRaNtLeY can meet me at old Astroworld site at 9pm to get shanked

Is LMJ out for good for 2023?

I believe that Lance McCullers will contribute to the Astros right around the time Forrest Whitley contributes to the Astros.

Verlander + 20 million for Luis Garcia, who says no?

Garcia wouldn't play until 2025, so not sure what good he would for the Mets.  Maybe 3rd team that is rebuilding (like the Yankees lol)

Garcia went under the knife in early May. It's typically a 12-15 month rehab. He should be back next year by the ASB at the latest.  Unless something goes wrong with his rehab.

Joey gallo

.221 ops last 30 games, .141 batting avg

that’s not going to get runs across the plate

It will at least 22% of the time with the bases loaded.

Quero is a lot more highly thought of than Lee.  Equivalent Astros package would have been closer to Gilbert and Arrighetti.

Yeah what i had seen from people is Angels overpaid significantly for 2 rentals.

Not shocked

Angels gonna Angels and Chi wouldnt move Giolito this quick unless they knew they were fleecing someone

No, that logic is as dumb as humanly possible. He's right about that.

Ok Mr Pitcher, that’s fine and dandy when you’re ERA is below 3. When it starts looking like 6 you can STFU and throw to Diaz because then we need offense to cover up your shit pitches.

Colton Gordon with another strong start for the Hooks:5 IP | 3 H | 2 R | 2 ER | 1 BB | 7 K#Astros @ColtonZimGordon

This lefty is really impressing me.

The #Marlins are targeting a controllable catcher, per league source. One player they have a positive evaluation of is Astros Triple-A Catcher Korey Lee, I’m told.

Verlander talk heating up now that Mets traded Robertson

He is going somewhere, but has a no trade clause so pretty much gets to decide on the spot

This isn't a replay, because this one went 4️⃣6️⃣6️⃣ 🤯 for Singleton!!! (And, peep the bat drop)

I gave no thought to Singleton ever coming up as he’s never been able to do anything in the bigs but he just absolutely is destroying AAA pitching this year. I’m getting curious.

He most likely wouldn’t be worth a shit.  But every time he makes contact the ball has a chance of leaving the yard; that’s probably worth having him on the bench for pinch hitting scenarios that present a favorable matchup.

Suffice to say I’d rather see Singleton at DH than Madris.

Yeah. I’d guess I’d much rather have him up there hacking than Sigh Madris if we have to have a lefty.

Altuve, Breg, Alvarez, King Tuck, Singleton-DH, Chas, Abreu, Diaz, Pena

If we could get this lineup in the next week or 2, that wouldn't suck.. But I'm sure it's a dream..

What did he do now?

Being a patronizing prick while defending Maldy as the everyday catcher.

The Astros also assigned the following to Single-A Fayetteville:Brice Matthews, SSJeron Williams, SSRyan Johnson, 2B

Astros 1st, 8th and 9th rounders from the draft.

#15746
Anyway, my guess is the Verlander thing goes right down to the deadline. The bottom line is the Mets would prefer Rangers as a trade partner, because they have better prospects. JV (who has a NTC) likely prefers Houston, because of the obvious. Classic staredown to see who blinks

#15747

Just remember that we win with Bligh.  Alvarez since his comeback:  0-1.

Of course, the reason Bligh is such a winner is that his teammates play better because they know he sucks.

Stop with Singleton. He is a AAAA star. He should not see the Astros lineup. He had a .325 ops with Milwaukee this year

I just want to see a legitimate upgrade at SP and one bat. If we throw in another reliever that won’t hurt either but I’ve set my expectations to nothing big happening.
