Since June 27, Cody Bellinger is leading the majors in batting (.443), third in on-base percentage (.469), fourth in slugging (.739) and OPS (1.207). He’s now hitting .319 with a .918 OPS on the year.

So he still isn't drawing walks and pitchers have temporarily forgotten to work around the zone?

I think that is exactly what that tweet was designed to show.

The sensational Cincinnati Reds rookie flied out to deep centerfield during his first at-bat against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday night. When he approached the plate for his second at-bat in the third inning, he was met with this greeting from the Brewers' home scoreboard operator.

"Elly De La Cruz: Almost his a home run in the first inning... but didn't."

On the very first pitch of the at-bat, De La Cruz did this:

De La Cruz Missile! 😱456 feet for Elly.

Did you miss the .918 OPS on the year? Who gives a shit about walks if your ops is that high? Just another way sabermetrics ruined the game.

Well, one of the big flaws of OPS is that it weights OBP and SLUG equally.  OBP is much more important than SLUG; it's why wOBA was invented.

If you somehow had a guy with a 200 OBP and a 700 SLUG, that's not a very good player; way worse than a 400/500 guy.

I recommend the Yankees trade for him immediately. Paying zero attention to underlying red flags is what winners do.

Also, how dumb is complaining about sabermetrics because OPS is more important?

I hope Bellinger is traded to a team that I don't root for to see if he can improve upon his 32.6% playoff K rate.

Replay overturned this out and gave the Guardians the run here. The tag was slightly late, and the runner had to slide through his legs to get to the plate:

The @Pirates didn't spend $312,400 of their pool money, while the @Mariners didn't spend $305,400 of theirs. If both clubs would have dipped fully into the 5% overage, Pittsburgh could have spent another $1,121,685 and Seattle could have gone $963,645 higher. (6/7)

Holy fuck.  Literally an hour ago, I was telling my godson that it's nearly impossible for a SS to have negative WAR because the positional adjustment is so big for SS.  We were talking about Volpe, but I guess I was wrong.

Honest reason I knew how bad he’s been is he made a sick diving play like a month ago, so I searched his name on Twitter to post it here. All of the relevant hits were how fucking awful he’s been, so of course that was mentioned heavily today.
