September 29, 20232 yr Let Zack Hit! https://www.royalsreview.com/2023/9/29/23895239/let-zack-hit The Alex Gordon story is well known but it's the first time I have heard the Buddy Bell/Allard Baird story. Good stuff.
September 30, 20232 yr At Yankees/Royals game. Rodon with an impressive showing. Didn't get an out. 5 runs....bases still loaded.

October 1, 20232 yr Matt Duffy in the lineup as DH for the Royals. I was hoping KC would have used the Ohtani Rule to let Greinke have one last game as a batter.
October 1, 20232 yr Damn. Wakefield went fast. Schilling leaked he had cancer seems like yesterday or the day before. RIP.
October 1, 20232 yr Assuming he had Glioblastoma, shit is nasty and moves quick. By the time you start having symptoms and realize something may be wrong it's already too late.
October 1, 20232 yr He was one of my favorites during that Sox run. Could not make it as an infielder, so learns to toss the Knuckle.

Picked up his 2nd win of the season though. If this is it, he finishes with 225 Ws and 2979 Ks. Edited October 1, 20232 yr by WBT
October 1, 20232 yr Freddie went 0 for 4 today and finished with 59 doubles. Still no 60 double season since 1936.
October 2, 20232 yr In the history of baseball (which is a pretty long time), there has been 1 team to slug .500 for a full season. Your 2023 Atlanta Braves, with the most impressive offensive season in history.

Hope it works out for you the same it did for us.

Not really. The ball was juiced in 2019 and the MLB-wide slugging was .435. The Astros led at .495 but the Twins and Yankees were at .494 and .490. This year MLB-wide slugging was .414. Atlanta led at .501 and the Dodgers were second at .455.

I was just saying all-time great offensive regular season means jack shit when it comes to winning the World Series. It helps, but is no guarantee. Granted, the Braves also have elite pitching so there is a legit reason they are far and away the top pick to take it all. Kind of like the 2019 Astros were. Again, hope it works out for them the same it did for us.
October 2, 20232 yr Author Most here are familiar with the Veeck name & the St. Paul Saints. I ain’t spoilering shit, but this is worth 90 minutes of your time. The Saint of Second Chances on Netflix. Watch it.

October 2, 20232 yr Holy crap, this picture was taken in 1992 at the SF Giants' last home game of the season. At the time they had agreed to move the franchise to Tampa. The 5-yo kid is Brandon Crawford.

Have heard that brought up multiple times on sportstalk today, but that favors the weaker team, IMHO. I like it that there were at least a couple of upsets this year, and it wasn't just one game flukers.
