"Baseball is a fickle mistress."

Sox had a chance to gain a game on the entire AL East, and of course they lose to the worst team in baseball.

Great to take two-straight games from the team with the best record in baseball.

...after dropping two of three to the team with the worst.

What a different sport baseball is. This looks like it will be a competitive finish to the season. Let's go, Sox!

Has not been reported. Some said he showed up late.

There is something fucked up going on. Have never seen Cora like that. And yeah, that was a bad loss.

Bolded is a serious ouch.

18. Yu Chang (Previous Rank: Not Ranked)

Did you know the Red Sox are the worst defensive team in MLB based on outs above average? It’s not even a particularly close race, as they currently sit at -46 OAA, with the second-worst team, the Miami Marlins, at -16. That is not a typo. We’re talking a difference of 30 OAA. By the same measure, Chang has been the team’s best defender (four OAA), so even if he has a 48 wRC+ in 50 plate appearances since returning from the IL on July 7, he’s still providing value.

Fuck the Yanks.

Anyone going to the series in Houston? I think I’m going Monday & Wednesday.

#65

Got meetings there Wednesday, so coming in Tuesday. Unless Client has plans for meetings will hit the game Tuesday. Intern has never been to a Sox game so will be cool to reward him for his hard work.

And FUCK THE YANKEES!

This is not going as planned.  Apparently the Astros like to score runs.

At least it's Sale Day today... if that means anything, still.

Is Trevor Story really “back” if he can’t ever get a fucking hit? Damn.

He was a terrible signing from the beginning.

Real kick in the nuts news out today. Tim Wakefield and his wife both have cancer. Tim's is brain, his wife's is different.

The #RedSox today issued the following statement with permission from Tim and Stacy Wakefield:

On the news getting out before they wanted? That is on Curt Schilling who revealed it on his podcast.

Maybe it'll mean they'll finally start to draft SP instead of going SS-and-move-to-other-positions-happy every draft.

Stacy's is pancreatic. Not good for either of them.

Four games left. Going to finish last in the AL East no matter what. This thread only got to two pages. Here's to a better season next year.

I don’t mind drafting an abundance of SS with the intention of moving them to other positions as long as their bat is projected to be a plus at the new position.  We desperately need to draft pitchers, though.

Damn. Sad news to end a sad season.

Our hearts are broken with the loss of Tim Wakefield.Wake embodied true goodness; a devoted husband, father, and teammate, beloved broadcaster, and the ultimate community leader. He gave so much to the game and all of Red Sox Nation. Our deepest love and thoughts are with…

If Wake doesn’t eat those innings in Game 3 of the 2004 ALCS, we don’t win that title. Legend.
