The loss in revenue for Texas from not playing ND at home would more than be made up for by making the playoffs. So let’s increase our odds of doing that while also telling ND to go fuck themselves.

ND is mad the ACC pushed for Miami in the playoffs over ND.  Saw somewhere that the ACC Network has replayed the Miami-ND game 13 times over the last few weeks.  They're apparently shocked and appalled that the ACC would push for a full time member and part of Miami's playoff payout over ND who is a partial football member and would get to keep their entire playoff payout

Holy shit, ND’s crash out is legendary

I hope Notre Dame is saying they're done with the ACC and is cancelling all their upcoming games. Keep embarrassing yourself.

This would be awesome if all P4's stopped playing them and they fall into University of Chicago status in 10 years.

Yeah, that was a really fun game from a neutral perspective. That Duke team also finished 4-8 and was a three TD dog that day.

I think that was the year Navy won for the first time since 1963.

They were just boycotting a bowl game.

A little tip for PR people: No one has an ounce of sympathy for privileged and wealthy entities that play the victim card. Strategize accordingly.

The ACC damages itself by having a 5 loss champion. That alone should have excluded Miami. I don’t care if ND, Texas, BYU, or Vandy got the spot, they all deserved it over any ACC team.

Bevacqua is "perplexed why they aren't in the finals."

ND played a shit schedule outside of two teams and they lost to both.

Glad I could clear that up for you.

They had a 5 loss champion because their conference has too many teams and it was stupid 5 way tiebreaker that got Duke in there. SMU had a chance to get in easily but couldn't beat a shitty Cal team. Miami beat Notre Dame. That should matter and it did. Notre Dame can easily solve all of this by joining a conference so they too will have to be in a championship game with risk. The committee wasn't leaving out the ACC. Where they screwed up was having Notre Dame ranked ahead of Miami last week. It would've gave them easy cover to exclude Notre Dame regardless of the ACC championship or to swap them and piss off Miami if Virginia had won on Saturday.

All conferences should go to a CFP based tie breaker when there are 3 or more teams tied atop the standings to get the best CCG participants and this would not be an issue. ND Bama and Miami all get in if the matchups are:

Miami vs Virginia

Georgia vs Ole Miss (& Lane)

Big 10 and Big 12 stay the same.

Cal's season is one of the most nonsensical things I have seen in a long time. They lose 34-0 to San Diego State and get destroyed by Stanford...yet take down Louisville and SMU and finish 7-5 and get a vacation in Hawaii.

Wasn’t the ACC 2nd place tiebreaker the same as what the SEC used in its first place tiebreaker? Conference opponent sos? Considering conference rankings should be based on conference activity it makes as much sense as possible in the new ridiculous world of mega conferences and unequal conference scheduling. Miami lost to now unranked SMU and Louisville. Fuck them, one good noncon win doesn’t undo those losses. Not to mention using CFP rankings to break ties is just giving the committee that everyone is hating on so much today more power and influence.

Let me introduce you to OKST 2018. Beat No. 17 Boise State, No. 5 Texas, No. 7 WVU, and lost to No. 6 OU by one point in Norman 47-48. Lost to everyone else in the bottom half of the conference standings (Baylor, TCU, KSU, Tech). All with a former walkon at QB. Beat No. 24 Mizzou in the Liberty Bowl.

When you have 4 or more teams tied in a conference no amount of tie breakers can accurately determine who really should be there. Once we go to 9 it will likely be a moot point but bringing the committee in takes a teams whole season into account as opposed good teams getting snubbed for 5 loss duke or a Bama team that lost to Florida State and a bad OU team. Conferences want as many good teams as possible in the playoff and playing into their rankings for CCG week is the only way to ensure this years fiasco does not happen again

We won't talk about how FSU's great bowl game went.

ND probably kills the ACC - they’re holding a press conference and I bet they cancel their ACC membership.

That league can’t survive without them.

WTF, was the ACC supposed to tell Miami to stand down in the hopes that the gesture would make Notre Dame like them more?

This is some weird high school gossip for a bunch of adults.

If these idiots were in the ACC they would have smashed UVA and in the CC game and punched their ticket instead of sitting at home holding their dicks.

So when Notre Dame cuts all ties with the ACC tomorrow then what?

PAC12 could use another school to help out with football scheduling...

Nah the ACC has far bigger problems than whether a few of them play ND in any given year. The bigger problem would be for ND having to add 5 new opponents on short notice in a world where most P4 noncon schedules are set multiple years out. They also just set fire to their reputation and could prevent big names from scheduling them even if they could rearrange their existing contracts.

Teams opting out of bowls really should lose eligibility for any bowl or playoffs the following season.  I actually like ND, but they absolutely want to have their own set of rules and that just doesn't work anymore.

I couldn’t agree more, quit and not play in your bowl game this year?  Bowl ban next year as as penalty.   Fuck Dome

NCAA needs to add a rule that you must have 9 P4 games on your schedule in order to qualify for the playoff. And then have the B10, SEC, ACC, B12 state they will not schedule ND until they join a conference.

Maybe I am misremembering but didn't a ton of players from FSU opt out of the bowl game?  Not just players that were going to the NFL, but players more or less acting the same as Notre Dame

lol, please kill the ACC, then have the remaining conferences vote that you must be in a conference to reach the playoffs lol

I want maximum destruction with lots of upset fans across the country

I think what frustrated me most about 2023 FSU was that if they had beaten Georgia they would have been unbeaten and just defeated one of the best teams in the country. They could have made a play for a split championship for the last time before the 12 team playoff. Somebody would have given it to them.

And they just...didn't give a shit and didn't bother and just got slaughtered.

Pretty pathetic. They had a chance to do something special.

Yeah but they sucked.  They were scrapping by a bunch of really bad teams without their QB.  Hell they may have sucked with him as well.  No amount of sacking up was going to get them a W against UGA.

Was it that they didn't want to be there, or were they just that much shittier without their quarterback, thus validating the decision to leave them out?

If they were in the ACC, they would have lost more games, they wouldn't have qualified for the CCG and wouldn't be pitching a hissy fit now b/c it would have been more apparent how undeserving they are.
