Well those posts from you were less than 2 years ago, but sure. And I disagree that he did well in 2022.

Sure, if you want some 2024 quotes in 2 minutes, happy to help. But I do agree that the recruiting group think started to fade a bit after the 2024 class began to take shape. By then the group had reframed the narrative to him not needing 5 stars because he was such a great developer of talent (which to be fair to the group, maybe true).

You are not in tune with the evolution of the board’s thinking on Bo. I was unhappy with Bo’s recruiting very early in his tenure and thought I was dead wrong because most were very high on him.

But slowly over time most started to realize his recruiting was not up to standard. So no, there hasn’t been a big switch on Bo since he left. You are just flat wrong. And most still would have been fine with him still here, but realize that there is a chance to do better on recruiting, and hopefully not worse on development.

This is not rocket science. When Bo was a Longhorn, his recruiting was great and we loved him. Now he’s at LSU and he sucks.

Boom. End of story…

Except this perception was already changing prior to his departure, as has been discussed

Bo is a good recruiter when he has money to do the recruiting for him.

lol. That was absolutely not the consensus on this board 12 months ago. The consensus was that Bo was knocking it out of the park with underrated gems like Sydir Mitchell, Jaray Bledsoe, Aaron Bryant, Kris Ross and others, and that any gnashing of teeth about our future DT depth chart was nothing but histrionics. It's fine, it's what fans of college football recruiting do.

The reason why people had to use terms like “underrated gems” is because he wasn’t landing the top guys. So yeah, people were maybe polishing turds, but there was still an acknowledgement that he wasn’t landing the top guys.

I think Bo Davis was a really good coach here and he helped turn around the culture. But recruiting hasn’t been a strength for a while for him, and people here came to grips with that before he left.

I'm still holding out hope for Sydir and glad he chose to stay, but how is a 4* recruit with offers from aggy, Miami, and Georgia (among others) underrated?

And he hasn't done anything at UT yet, so how is he a gem?

No dog in this fight, but it doesn't seem like these quotes support your argument. Quite the opposite.

Actually he wasnt. He missed on a shocking number of dudes even with our NIL machine. There were definitely guys like Jackson last cycle that were just NIL driven morons, but if he was a good recruiter and the money is close, he should get a few more guys over the last couple of seasons.

It might be good to stop feeding the troll.  Just a thought.

There were always dissenting voices, and those voices grew in numbers towards the end, but they were almost always met with pages of dog piling and copium. It‘s not really worth debating, the threads are still there for people to read.

In any event, I personally still wish Davis were here. Here’s to hoping that Kenny Baker turns out to be a great find.

Slow day, so catching up on Ole Miss transfers stuff...

Are we getting that small school punter today?

This guy takes the top spot for the all-name team in the transfer portal.

Apparently Nahlin confirmed a transfer commit, but not Johnny Bowens.  Who else is Texas in on?

We still need a punter, don't we?

Per Nahlin, Texas won't be signing a punter

Don't tease me like that...it's just plain cruel.

The way Gerry and Bobby were talking this morning about Texas being tenacious in transfer portal recruiting and not taking a "no," this would make sense

Bobby and Gerry were doing some loaded "Texas recruiting through the whistle" talk this morning which made me think there is some portal target they never gave up on.

Just saw this. Yeah, no poker face this morning.

IT:

So, without giving it away, who is the player?

To borrow a line from the The Big Lebowski, he’s “a f****** veteran that’s who.”

He’s experienced. He helps at a need position. He’ll be a rotational piece who lends versatility to the position group.

Doesn't sound like a DT...

Is LB a need position considering lack of experience there?

"i was on the wrong side of the Red River" is an all-timer.

Is that for real?

OT to 2024, but historical transfer "news" nonetheless.

On this morning's "OTF Today," Gerry and Bobby were discussing QB recruiting and heights of 6 feet and under regarding KJ Lacey vs. Keelon Russell and that height lends to higher ceilings. Gerry then went on to say that Russell Wilson didn't want to go to Wisconsin and that he wanted to attend Texas, but Mack passed him over because of his height. This was something I wasn't aware of.

 New favorite Longhorn.

Seems like he was a really good player before injuries.  Hopefully he can stay healthy and they can bring January and Sydiir along as quickly as they develop.

If true, Mack passing on QB's isn't a surprise.

Regardless of performance, at least Texas now has the DT depth that players should take absolutely zero plays off.

Damn 7th year senior. Same class as Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, and Micah Parsons lol
