The sad part is he actually already missed one full half (minus 10 seconds).  Seems like you get a harsher sentence if you do it early in the half vs late.  Targeting 10 seconds before the end of the game, gives you first half of next game.  Targeting 10 seconds into the half gets you the entire second half plus another one.  They should go by a rolling 30 mins.  In this case he would only miss 10 seconds of the next game.

Even MLB figured it’s wrong and too harsh to an entire team by not making Abreu sit until next year, but I have given up on the NCAA doing anything that makes sense. Another being the portal opening before the end of the season. Does the NFL have free agency during the playoffs? I think we would all think that is lunacy. It also makes the bowl games even more irrelevant because now you not only have the guys going into the draft not playing, but now so are the transfers.

What's the o/u on Billy Napiers months left in job.  I go with 10.

He’ll probably 2-6 by then, so I’d say that’s about right.

I'm not sure you guys are missing out on much if Muk goes to Oklahoma. He's good, and I'm happy he's getting his payday. He also has problems in coverage that can be stroke inducing

It would be a mathematical impossibility for him to cover worse than Key Lawrence or Reggie Pearson. He is welcomed in Norman.

Given their schedule next year, which is the hardest schedule I've ever seen, it was probably wise to let Napier have another year so the new guy isn't starting off 4-8.

That's interesting - PFF grades are obviously subjective - but his 'coverage' grades are by far the best part of his grade.

I’m going to laugh if Denver Harris ends up back at A&M in a desperation move by both parties.

He was abysmal last year. Better this year, but the defensive coordinator was kind of learning on the job. I wonder how PFF grades, because in man coverage, that's where the qb is going

Some data points on Mukuba ... not sure of context/significance.

- Several outlets named Mukuba a Freshman All-American in 2021;  also Third Team All ACC (ACC Conference)

- In 2022 and 2023, he did not make the ACC Conference 1st, 2nd or 3rd teams All ACC (honorable mention only)

- In 2022 and 2023, he did not make the Associated Press 1st or 2nd teams All ACC

feel free to shoot the messenger on that one

Makuba plays the 1st half?

aggy has his high school teammate but a shitty position coach. Texas is the bees kneez with great DL development. Good luck Luicci.

His PFF grades were terrible last year, but this year he was more in line with his freshman year. Hasn’t he been battling through a lot of injuries the last two years?

I must have my Burnt Orange glasses on because I read that as Looch being afraid Colton would want to follow Trey and Andrew to Austin.

So he would be a more athletic Jerrin Thompson?

Eh, this is about as impactful as Luicci trying to launch hit pieces on us the day before NSD.

I don't know the rosters for Texas or Oklahoma, but he would either start or provide amazing depth. He's not bad, I just don't know why Clemson put him in the nickel. He has a kid and deserves his payday.

I'm going to have to take a shower after writing this, but in defense of Mike Roach,

- he did break the Filsaime/Dec 15-17 OV news first.

- and he just added this, in the thread:

Also, supposedly:

image.thumb.png.aded2f945567c81ad2e19cbfa67e2d9c.png

So yeah, for the timorous Roach to break some news and express an opinion ... he likely has a contact and has heard good things (beyond the scheduling of the OV).

Roach has quietly probably worked himself into the 3rd or 4th best recruiting guy covering Texas.  I'll give him some props for the last couple years.

We should bring in Nolen for a visit to drive up his price and drain their resources.

I mean, any Aggie player of note should express interest in Texas; I can’t imagine a better strategy for bilking more money out of them.

Nolen taking a visit to us would absolutely cause their entire athletic department to burn down. Those yokels would be mortgaging oil wells trying to keep him.

They'd offer him 6 figures just to not visit.

It's been repeated here several times by people in the know that a small handful of medium donors are carrying most of the NIL weight for us right now and they are close to being tapped out. Apparently TOF is not where it needs to be yet, either.

I assume aggy is in a similar position, probably even worse since they just had to pass the hat to buy out Jimbo. Where the fuck are they getting the money to re-up a guy like Nolen?

A few things worth fleshing out here, in case folks care.

There have been a few really big donors who are fatiguing. The medium-sized guys, call it $10k-$100K annually, aren't fatiguing, there just needs to be more of them. The crowdfunding level participants are great and growing, but that kind of base takes years to grow.

What's happening in the portal is unlikely to ever be something that collectives can truly handle, Texas or anyone else. TOF is helping build a floor. Is it going to help us land a 5 star recruit? Tangentially. Is it going to help young backups heading towards starting roles and specific key players at non-star positions? For sure. This is football only. A lot of good stuff is also happening in many of the other sports.

TOF still needs a ton of help in football and needs CDC backing it with the guys in his pocket. That considered, some of the dire statements you may read elsewhere are coming from a key and sizeable donor who is concerned directionally and rightly fatiguing. There's more activity than just his efforts though, and that's honestly never considered when those thoughts are posted.

Your point about Nolen is likely very valid in multiple instances for ATM, but regarding Nolen, they had a deal with him before cutting Fisher loose, covered by the money. Them being delusional about Robinson staying is likely triggering the ol'renegotiation with Nolen.

In reality, Nolen is a good DL and not a great DL. He has a low pain tolerance and pulls himself out of games regularly. He was the highest rated guy in his class, and that is what is causing the aggies to desperately try to hang on to him. Perception. That's it.

Liucci is smarter than I give him credit for, then, as I'm kind of afraid of Colton Thomasson following his friend to Texas as well.

CTJ, could you please elaborate on that? Do you mean the program's direction or CFB/NIL in general?

Regarding the 2nd year "slump", didn't he play through quite a bit of injury last year?

in big games..

'23 Tulane 1 tackle

'23 Tenn 4 tackles

'23 Hou 5 tackles, 1 sack

'22 Troy Bowl Game 6 tackles, 2 sacks

'22 Texas 2 tackles

'22 Hou 3 tackles, 0.5 sacks

I don't think anyone who has been near the program or any of us watching from afar should be worried about the program's direction. Mostly, there is concern regarding NIL. The inflation of it, the sustainability, etc. That's both an issue for Texas and CFB itself. At some point, if every single transfer or retention discussion starts and ends with a number, capitulation will occur and bluffs will get called, even for future 1st round picks.

His schedule is not exactly easy either.

Dabo's cult losing steam? Seems like he isn't just losing depth guys who are recruited over?
