I really really think that this country is not ready for a female president. It's fucking pathetic, but look at us.  LOOK AT US.  The logical move is to nominate a strong female like Warren or Klobuchar or Harris, but I am in no way convinced that the animal nature of our voters is ready to do it.  No fucking way.  We are dumb animals that are still stuck in the hunter-gatherer world.  People love to talk a big talk, but when it comes to the actual voting booth, when it comes time, these reptilian brains will pull the wrong lever, AGAIN.

The country is ready for a female president.  A minority of loudmouth assholes isn’t.

We elected a black, atheist, Muslim, Socialist, Marxist, Communist, Kenyan community organizer from Chicago. With the middle name of Hussein.

We can elect a woman.

At least a white woman.

Hell, Arizona sent an atheist bi-sexual woman to the Senate.  And Hillary got the popular vote by millions.

Totally disagree, we are ready for a woman president.

Alright. Which one would you vote for?

.....................................Why Hillary of course..........

I like Warrens views on reform of the financial sector, she isn't going to win though, not as a president at least, IMO.  T. Gabbard and Warren both have  my interest even though they're democrats.  K. Harris is too far left for my taste.

But Hillary now................ why that's just a straight shooter with upper management written all over her.

What makes Kamala Harris too far left? I honestly don’t know a tremendous amount about her policy ideology outside of her views on criminal justice reform.

Fuck off with your lame ass attempt at a racist call out.  As far as CA. is concerned yeah, that state usually breeds more left of center politicians.

Dana Rohrabacher, Devin Nunes, Jeff Denham, Duncan Hunter, Kevin McCarthy, David Valadao, etc would disagree with you.  Do you have anything specific to Harris more than her state of residency?

Crazy part is i’ve heard people say they won’t vote for Harris because she’s too moderate.

I am convinced that the vast majority of the voting population assigns ideological positions based on how politicians look and talk.

I hope Warren makes a serious run, but, imo, it's going to be tough sledding given the fact that she's one of the few Dems with the stones to challenge Obama and his shitty presidency.  She's going to get smeared relentlessly by Obamaworld.

Just out of curiosity, who had the last non-shitty presidency?

This is such a great speech and thanks for posting.

This is the core of what Elizabeth Warren REALLY wants to do as president.  She’s going to campaign on “re-building the middle class” and fighting corruption, which are good things to fight for but her real mission is break up the banks and prevent too-big-to-fail.

Warren is dead in the water among the Dem establishment and the always-online centrists/swing voters. She's awesome and would be an awesome president.

George Washington.

Sound familiar?

I think many Americans are fed up with both party establishments and are looking for an outsider with big ideas.  This was the appeal of Bernie and Trump in 2016.

As awful as Trump is, the story of his 2016 Republican Party take over was as inspiring as it was unlikely.

People really WANT to believe but have little to no faith in government/media.

Trump seduced enough people with his lies and charisma.  There’s no reason to believe someone else couldn’t be just as successful with the truth and tenacity.

I don’t know if Elizabeth Warren is that person but the power is there just waiting for someone with the right strategy.

Inslee certainly has the experience with few noticeable surface flaws.

My only question is, why am I only hearing about him now?

That could be a good thing but he needs to find a way to make a lot of noise eventually.

He’s been low key talking for about a year, has lots of traction in Mt and Pacific time zones, but Corp media as based in East Coast and hasn’t tracked him. That’s going to be his major hurdle. He should also make balanced budget co-equal to climate change at the top of his issues, but he’s the rare no-bullshit progressive Democrat, sort of a lefty version of Kasich. Not moderate, but very practical.

It doesn't matter who the dems nominate.  Roughly 40% of the country will think he or she is evil incarnate or an extremist left winger.  See Trumpkins or Slorch's comments on Beto.  The other 60% of the country just wants a sentient human being who has more decency and intelligence than your average rabid raccoon.

The real question is if there will be a free and fair election in 2020.  Not who the dems nominate.

There won't be.  The GOP is going to continue to full-on cooperate with an enemy foreign state to wage an exhaustive and effective propaganda war.  They will continue to disenfranchise likely Dem voters.  In collaboration with their Russian masters, they will foment dissent and strife between the possible Dem factions, both depressing Dem turnout and getting a sizable percentage to vote for Jill Stein, Bernie, or whoever else they decide passes the Progressive Purity Test.  Not enough Dem voters, and those that do show up have voters peeled off to a third party candidate.

Trump 2020.  Count on it.

I guess 2018 is 4D chess. They wanted to get the shit kicked out of them and cede power.

Their strategy is much easier to win with on the state level and national level.  District by district, it's much tougher.

And again, even if you slightly outnumber Trumpists at the ballot box now, where are they going?  That cancer is here.  And it's not going away.

I don't think there is much evidence supporting the efficacy of Russia's propaganda in the 2016 election.  imo, it was pretty much meaningless.

Other than Donald Trump being president, you're probably right.

Quote

In the backdrop of the city's multicultural community, his father, Pat O'Rourke, a consummate politician, once explained why he nicknamed his son Beto: Nicknames are common in Mexico and along the border, and if he ever ran for office in El Paso, the odds of being elected in this mostly Mexican-American city were far greater with a name like Beto than Robert Francis O'Rourke. It was also a way to distinguish him from his maternal grandfather, Robert Williams.

It's not just Russian propaganda.  It's Fox News selling an alternate reality to 35% of the country.  It's voting systems that are vulnerable to hacking.  It's voter suppression.  Kicking people off voter rolls.  Gerrymandering.  Closing urban polling locations.  Long lines in cities to vote.  The electoral college.    A Republican party perfectly willing to completely lie to the voters (e.g. Kemp lying that Abrams attempted to hack his campaign).

You know all the Wikileaks shit was Russian propaganda right?

Thank god our responsibile media didn’t push that out 24/7 during the election.

Also, thank heavens Trump wasn’t spewing Kremlin propaganda all over the country at his rallies.

We were truly blessed the Russians weren’t  running  thousands of trolls and bots to sync up with Trump’s rhetoric and the Wikileaks dumps.

Yep, nothingburger

This.

The way forward is the way Beto ran his campaign. It’s based heavily on personal interaction, effective fund raising, and a positive message. Also a great ground game.

I didn’t say I wouldn’t vote for her. If she’s the Dem nominee she’s got my vote. She shouldn’t have done that test. I didn’t like Obama pulling up his birth certificate. Trump made it sound like it was because of him that Obama did it. Like Trump had some kind of super power that forced people to do his will. Don’t give in to his crap.
