NOW we're qualified with Senegal and Israel's draw. The lowest we can finish is the 4th best 3rd place team (Israel, Uzbekistan, and Senegal can do no better than 4 points).

The big thing is that 3rd place in Groups A and C can do no better than 4 points. That means 6 points will advance you. That means Argentina*, USA, Colombia*, and Nigeria are through. Argentina and Colombia are only going to be 1 or 2 in their group.

I did not like Luna for the first 1.5 games.  I liked Luna a lot after he played more of a withdrawn forward/creator.  That's where he needs to be; not up top as a lone(ish) striker

Yeah he isn't a 9 he's too little. Definitely a natural AM. Haven't gotten to watch either game but I watched a decent amount of the concacaf championship.

at the risk of jinxing the soccer gawdz here, i love the cohesion of this team

i know fuckall about Mikey Varas but he has this side in outstanding form

from the fed roster announcement:

The roster features players from 17 clubs, including 10 from Major League Soccer, led by three players from the Philadelphia Union and two each from LA Galaxy and the San Jose Earthquakes. Six players are based abroad: two each in England and Germany and one player each in Croatia and Spain. A total of 12 states are represented on the roster, with five players hailing from California and four from Texas. A native of Anchorage, Vargas is a rare World Cup roster selection from Alaska.

Three alternates will travel with the U.S. to Argentina to train with the team prior to the tournament: defender Thomas Williams (Orlando City SC), midfielder Moses Nyeman (Real Salt Lake) and forward Korede Osundina (Orange County SC).

Lower leagues maybe.

Man didn’t realize the game was yesterday. Not that I would have been able to watch it. Good win, that gave us first in the group. With Ecuador’s beat down of Fiji, a loss would have dropped us to 3rd, drawing a group winner in the next round (C - likely Colombia or D - Nigeria or Brazil).

Granted we are going to draw 3rd from either groups A or D. And D will be a tough draw (likely Italy). A is New Zealand. Root for Colombia and Japan today.

i've seen the majority of all 3 games and either the opposition were on ludes or we are on very high level for u-20

none of the opponents ever looked like winners - given the form on display going out before the semis would be a dissapointment

Cowell has played 800 minutes for San Jose this year, 0 goals 1 assist.  He is 19 and doesn’t turn 20 until October.   If he moves to Europe, it needs to be someplace like Netherlands or Belgium.

If Japan goes through as a 3rd place team, we draw Nigeria. Otherwise we draw New Zealand. If groups E or F go through, C will not.

No one on this team is an elite prospect. But they're all very good and play well with each other.

we drew New Zealand possibly the most favorable opponent in this round

tuesday 1230 kick, fs2 coverage begins at 1215

Geez, Nigeria, the top 3rd place team went to the host - Argentina!

All in all we had a great draw pulling New Zealand, best we could hope for.

Argentina 🇦🇷 has a long history of beating Nigeria 🇳🇬 at several FIFA Men’s World Cups.

I hope that Masche has the team ready to plow some African booty!

And go USA!

coulda sworn i had fs2. guess not. glad that anyone can catch the ratings bonanza of the 3rd rerun of undisputed tho.

First I've watched of this U20 World Cup - this U20 team looks 10x more cohesive than any senior US team I've seen. Tons of great link up play and anticipating the correct run.

Yeah who the fuck is supposed to be able to watch this on fs2?

Baby Wolff with a sleepy low shot to the far post, keeper just laid down and accepted his fate.

It's on youtubetv.  Wolff scored and Wiley just hit the bar.

Did he think it was going wide? Strange

He looks like he pulls his hand hoping it's going wide.

Kiwis getting dominated but have defended well in front of goal (not including the keeper mistake). 1-0 feels about right.

Cowell's having himself quite the tournament, and likely earning himself a sizable overseas contract in the process.

And there is our 3rd.

that *should* be enough

Considering that NZ has only scored 3 goals all tournament, I think we were safe at 2, 3 should seal it.

I'm not sure that any contract that the league in Northern Macedonia gives out could be considered sizable, but good for him.

All quips aside, he'll probably do better than that.

Not sure he deserves to, however, given his MLS performance (and that 'stache!), but directors and managers love reading too much into international tournaments at the expense of club performance.

Just my $0.02.
