73 DAYS 🤘        Rick Ingraham   #73

1977 Roster

Another stalwart on the 1977 O-line.

Well known for his message to 3rd string QB Randy McEachern when entering the 1977 Tex-OU game:

"Senior Guard Rick Ingraham was the vocal leader of the offense, and this time when Randy comes into the huddle, Rick grabs him by the jersey looks him in the eye and says, “You give the fucking ball to Earl and then you get the hell out of the way!”

Actually Randy did much more than that. Not one bobble of a snap, not one missed handoff, managed the game. And when it counted, he hit Alfred Jackson with two perfect passes to set up the only touchdown of the day for either team.

Diron Talbert. He was the youngest of three Talbert brothers who played football for UT. Oldest brother, Don, (we will see him tomorrow), played on the 1959-1961 UT teams. Middle brother, Charles, (we saw him on day 89 of the countdown), played on the 1961-1963 UT teams and youngest brother, Diron, played on the 1964-1966 UT teams.

Scott was a four-year player for the Longhorns and a two-time All-American. In 2005, Scott earned Unanimous first-team All-America honors from the five major selectors recognized by the NCAA in addition to his second consecutive first-team All-Big 12 selection. A key piece of the Longhorns’ back-to-back Rose Bowl winning teams and Vince Young‘s blindside protector, Scott attended Dallas Carter prior to his Texas career.

Scott was drafted in the fifth round of the 2006 draft and played in parts of eight years in the NFL.  He recently began his prep coaching career with Plano (Texas) John Paul II.

My Dad played (at practice) with Scott Appleton and he, along with Noblis, we’re men vs boys - very physical even in practice. Yes, we’re talking “practice!”

Hook’em!!!

Dad was a roommate with David McWilliams for a semester or two. They always reflected on “practice” being tougher than their upcoming opponent.

That’s like walking up the wrong alley on a dark night.

67 DAYS  🤘

It’s not every day that you see a 6-foot-5, 320-pound offensive lineman receive a handoff, much less take it to the house.  Agbo received a handoff around the 40-yard line and broke numerous tackles en route to the end zone in Beamer’s 29-18 win.
