If two teams are tied they should be flown to a field mid-way between their games for a penalty shoot out.

Or a friendly match of dodgeball within the center circle.

You can't dodge a ball, if you can't dodge a Russian Sniper.

Are you really trying to say:

Senegal couldn't catch a break from the referees today, and the crowd in the stadium seemed about 80% Colombian yellow. Looked like freakin Bogota out there.

Oh well.  Senegal wasn't exactly in a hurry to score before Japan scored either.  I hate the stalling tactics as well, but I'm not sure what Japan is supposed to do about it.  If their coach urged them to press and they gave up a goal, he'd be hung in the middle of Tokyo.

so whats at stake here for Belgium/England?

Lose and face colombia->easier path

Win and face Japan->Tougher path?

Well, at least gives some kind of incentive for England or Belgium to try to win their group to face Japan instead of Colombia. But the second round and overall prestige on that side of the bracket still appears to be much easier.

So CONMEBOL has established that they travel well, especially against African countries.

Argentina, Brazil, and Columbia all filled their stadiums for game 3.

Uruguay doesn't have enough people to travel well and I don't think you have the numbers with $$$$ for Peru to emulate ABC.

Both teams will try to win. Belgium will do a better job of it.

Belgium will rest anyone who needs a rest. They are smarter because they don't have the English press hounding every decision.

lol,  fucking Fox, so predictable.   Is there a team that speaks Spanish playing?

Answer Yes.

PUT IN THE FAKE ANDRES CANTOR!!!!!!!!!!

will make damn sure the FS1 channel is muted

Everyone who is carrying a nick or on a yellow should sit.

Otherwise, you play to win the game.  You don't play just to play it.  Turning off in the middle of a short tournament right before the knockout rounds seems like a dangerous thing - especially a team as mentally fragile as England.

That being said all defenders will have it beaten into their heads to avoid professional fouls.

Uh, where is Mertens, Lukaku, and Eden in this lineup??

Lukaku was going to rest anyway, since he got banged up a little against Tunisia. It helps that the match is largely meaningless.

Why wouldn’t the tiebreaker based on some kind of attacking statistic (shots on goal, shots attempted, corner kicks, passes in opponents half etc)? Way better than yellow cards or drawing lots.

Penetrations?

Nice save and shot

Guess we have a game with both trying to win

On the replay it didn't look too close.  I don't know how the keeper lost control of that.

Short arms.

I'd really like to see these teams in a match they care about.

Fans who are at the stadium should request a refund - what a shit show.

Was there drama about the Loftus-Cheek and Alexander-Arnold selections? I know they're the future, but they doesn't have THAT much experience.

It would have been great if this game was in game 1 or 2 of the group stage.

I’m watching this at an all inclusive in Mexico.  It is full of English fans who want them to win.  They don’t seem to care about the future, although both teams seems to be only concerned with it.  I’m going back to the pool bar at halftime.

There was a time not long ago when folks thought Januzaj was better than Raheem Sterling.

Would never happen but I think fewest number of times your goalkeeper touched the ball (other than goal kicks) would be a great tiebreaker. It would also cut down on the number of times teams play the ball all the way backward to the keeper.

Although now that I think about it, that would just create a comical battle of long balls into the box at the end of matches.

If I'd bought a ticket for this 3 months ago and went to Russia I'd be pretty pissed about this.

That would be awesome!

lizard straight-up trolling us by playing Vardy under these "conditions".

in other news, the information technology industry is contributing to the downfall of civilization, but we already knew that.
