July 12, 20187 yr Federer's now lost 20 career matches in which he's had match point. That's an insane number. Earliest one I can remember is the 2005 Australian Open SF against Marat Safin, where he went for a fancy tweener on MP (and dumped it into the net) instead of taking a safer shot. Also the 2006 Rome final against Nadal, the 2010 and 2011 U.S. Open SF matches against Djokovic, the 2017 matches against Donskoy in Dubai + Haas at Stuttgart, and now the 2018 Indian Wells final against del Potro and against Anderson here. It sounds weird to say, given how much Federer has accomplished, but he has definitely left a lot of trophies on the table.. Edited July 12, 20187 yr by satyanash

This is his chance, but he has to get through Anderson and that will be a battle. Plus, he's been the top American for a long time. Edited July 12, 20187 yr by The Dog

July 12, 20187 yr Kerber is into the finals. If Serena joins her it will be a Wimbledon final we have seen before
July 12, 20187 yr Watching Williams is just amazing. She is by far the greatest woman to ever play the game. It's not even close.
July 12, 20187 yr Serena v. Kerber it is. They played the Wimbledon final in 2016 where Serena won in straights
July 13, 20187 yr Author This is pretty crazy, odds for today. Isner -114, Anderson +100 Novak -108, Rafa -106 Can’t imagine odds in a Slam semi have been that close in quite awhile.
July 13, 20187 yr I'm going to go out on a limb and say these two are pretty evenly matched.Confirmed
July 13, 20187 yr I don't think an American man has been in a GS singles final since Roddick in 09. Come on Isner....do it for the land Edited July 13, 20187 yr by perfectchaos007
July 13, 20187 yr This servebot tie break set is gonna go on forever and we'll miss the interesting match altogether.

This thing has played 90+ more points than Nadal/Del Potro and eclipsed its length and they've covered 10-11K less foot distance throughout the match. I enjoy watching point construction through shot variety and tactical placement. I really don't find 50%+ of points ending in an unreturned serve/limp wristed return interesting.
July 13, 20187 yr Curfew is at 11pm and its already past 7pm. If Nadal v. Djokovic goes 4 or 5 sets I don't think they finish

I'm sure they have told Nadal/Djokovic they will have a VERY quick entrance. Start play by 8 and gets you 3 hours.... probably won't finish but possible. And put me in the camp that this is less than ideal tennis. It's better than Isner/Raonic but the court coverage per point is turrible

And yeah court coverage is terrible, but they have long arms..
July 13, 20187 yr At this point, whoever wins this match will sleep through their alarm and lose the final by default.

This match so far is just a bit longer than the time Nadal takes between points.
July 13, 20187 yr Yeah, can this rule be changed? Imagine being Nadal and Djokovic...antsy as fuck and entire pre game plan out the window. F that.
July 13, 20187 yr As a reminder, Isner lost to de Bakker 0,3,2 after he beat Mahut. Didn't hit a single ace and lost in 74 minutes
July 13, 20187 yr Isner’s movement between points makes Delpo look like Speedy Gonzalez. The crowd wants a BREAK!

July 13, 20187 yr I case of more is not always better... winner here all but guaranteed to lose handily in finals
July 13, 20187 yr Just now, MonkeyDoughnut said: I case of more is not always better... winner here all but guaranteed to lose handily in finals I feel that Anderson has a better shot at recovery than Isner.
July 13, 20187 yr Just now, MonkeyDoughnut said: I case of more is not always better... winner here all but guaranteed to lose handily in finals I think that was already the likely case, but Nadal/Djokovic may hit more shots/run more in their semifinal than this one. Altho if it goes close to 30-30, I think either guy is smoked in the final. Although it seems like Isner has no shot at the moment. He is on last breaths
July 13, 20187 yr Just now, Napoleon said: I feel that Anderson has a better shot at recovery than Isner. No doubt. But he will HAVE to win the 1st set, potentially the first two sets to have a chance.
