That’s where our direct ancestor grandfather came from to America in 1753. He said it ran about $8,000 for the two of them, IIRC. https://www.vikingrivercruises.com/cruise-destinations/europe/christmas-main-moselle/2026-paris-prague/index.html

I've watched a couple of the river cruise videos and they look interesting. Biggest drawback is you're stuck on the boat with the same 40-60 people the whole time. If they suck you're gonna have a bad time. And median age on those things appears to be about 75.

Yeah, that's the main problem. Great scenery, but you're stuck with a large group of the nearly dead for a week.

I don't care to gamble, I'm turned off by food troughs, I'm annoyed by a bunch of trashy drunks, and I hate the thought of cattle call activities off the boat. However, we are intrigued by some of the Alaska cruises, and maybe the Viking cruises for olds. Anyone have any experience with the Viking olds cruises? I'm currently on a cruise with Oceania. I've posted about them here before. The only thing about what you dread are the shore excursions, but you can always schedule your own tours with a private company and they'll meet you at the dock. We do the ship ones and just know what we're getting. Still get to see great things. Food is fantastic. They have 2 sizes of ships. Either around 850 or 1250. On a sea day when everyone is on board you can get a chair right by the pool and hot tub, and enjoy those. It's always very quiet. I won't sail on anything else. We'll book our next one before we get off, to get the extra perks they offer.
