How is a runner supposed to run in foul territory if he is starting from where a right handed hitter stands? Why is that a rule? How the hell is anyone supposed to beat out a throw if they are worried about where they run?

Take an indirect step into foul territory.  But you still get to come back into fair territory at the bag.
