September 2, 20232 yr Well, I’m sitting on the throne in the Tuscaloosa Ramada Inn right now. The toilet my might be the cleanest thing about this place—and that is before I flush. What a dump (the hotel). Sorry if you booked here. For $300 a night, I expected the bathroom door to not be rusted off the hinges.

September 2, 20232 yr Moved here from Austin in 1995, lived here 5 years and loved it. Just never stayed in a hotel. And the town and university were much smaller back then. I’m sure I’m about to find out that I like it less now than I did then. I suppose that is a common theme when 50-year-olds go back to the places where they burned up their 20s.

Sounds like Custer’s Last stand and perhaps cable TV’s Blockbuster moment. Always difficult to differentiate statements made publicly as a negotiating tactic vs actual moves being made on the chess board
September 2, 20232 yr I'm local-ish if anyone needs advice or help with finding a bail bondsman. Would love to be there at the game but tickets started at $500ish a long time ago. I've been in Birmingham (Homewood) for years now but I avoid that area , not safe for average intelligence white people. I might have to enjoy the view from my TV.

Tailgating starts at 8AM, they let us in to set up at 7AM. Breakfast Tacos at 8-9AM or whenever we get started on them until we are done cooking them. We will have their provided TV + another TV that we will bring so 2 TV's with all the games playing all day until kick. So far for the tailgate we will bring enough for: 100 breakfast tacos (bacon, egg, cheese, beans only toppings and flour tortillas) ~35lbs of @RGBIII special marinated beef fajitas + veggies (chicken will not be an option) Sides will be whatever bullshit chips/queso/guac/whatever we can find in large enough quantities in Tuscaloosa on Friday evening. If someone wants to bring fresh avocados or bring an awesome big tub/bowl of guac that would be killer. We will have a full 6 foot wooden bar - there will be no bartender, but if you want to volunteer to bartend for a bit feel free. 1 full keg of Modelo, 1 pony keg of a local Kolsch, 5 cases of lonestar, 5 cases of another Texas beer, 3 cases of seltzer, 2 * 1L each of tequila, whiskey, vodka - with coke + diet, sprite, ginger, club soda, water, lime juice and Gatorade 2 Bottles of assorted white wines, 1 bottle of rose, 2 bottles of red, 3 bottles of bubbles + some juices for mixers I can help bartend in the afternoon. I’m spending the night at the casino in Vicksburg and leaving the wife and headed over in the morning. Should be there around kick time for 11:00 am games.

September 4, 20232 yr Hey immamac - It looks like we are only going to need 5 tickets after all. If there aren't any takers for the 6th ticket from Surly, let us know and we will try to find another person to go. Or sell it in the worst case.

September 5, 20232 yr Still haven’t gotten my mobile tickets delivered from the SeatGeek seller. Anyone else buy though there and already receive theirs? Need all the ammo I can get with their bullshit customer service reps. I despise this company. No clue why every school decided to bail on StubHub for them as their official marketplace.
September 5, 20232 yr I bought on SeatGeek about 3 or 4 weeks ago and had the tickets electronically ( in their app) within 30 minutes.

Start at Black Warrior Brewing on University downtown. Low key place. Then walk down to Loosa. Then walk across the street to Innisfree. You will be getting closer and closer to campus on this trek. If you want to drink at the bars on the strip, Innisfree is just a quarter mile away or so. Head down to Houndstooth or Phil’s—end up at Gillettes and get a YellowHammer. Or just stay downtown. There are places on University and the street/area immediately to the north basically behind DePalmas Restaurant—which has pretty good Italian food/pizza.

We will likely have a Surly Horns welcome party somewhere - haven't decided where, but it will be hostile with the bar management so we can't do it in any official capacity outside of a bartab. Had the same issue in Fayettville but it worked out for us.

September 5, 20232 yr Author We have a single available to join us for $250 no fees. I'll take cash/check/venmo/paypal at the Tuscaloosa tailgate for all the tickets from everyone. What kind of Texas beer representation were we wanting? It seems like kegs are impossible in Tuscaloosa
