June 19, 20232 yr Popular Post You know theres an old saying in the Pacific - I know its in the North Atlantic, might be in the Pacific: sink my boat once, shame in you. Sink my boat twice, i cant be sunk again.
June 19, 20232 yr Maybe they’ll turn up with the kid that jumped over board the cruise ship a couple weeks ago. A little 2 for 1
June 19, 20232 yr Apparently, this is not the first time the sub lost contact with the rest of the world:
June 19, 20232 yr Popular Post Replace “back in time” with “to the Titanic” and that’s pretty much it.
June 19, 20232 yr Popular Post If I were in that submarine, contemplating on the fact that I am going to die because we are lost and there’s no power or way to control the submarine, surrounded by the inky black crushing weight of freezing water—- I would for sure take a shit in that little toilet.

June 19, 20232 yr also.... call me fucking crazy... but why in the holy hell would the submersible NOT have a fucking pinger? you know... the way they find airplanes that end up in water? I understand the tourists not wanting to hear every 10 mins on the descent... but maybe do something like a deadman stick where the operator has to hit the DONT PING button every 10 mins or so to keep the thing from pinging... and then, you know, when you fucking need it, let the mother fucker ping away. at least if the ping works it will lead the team to the pink mist remnants of the sub

Unfucking real that these people paid $250K to get an inverted glass bottom boat tour, I’d pay to not be on board.

June 19, 20232 yr Honestly, give me the catastrophic hull failure. That freezing water rushing in would knock you out quickly and then pressure and water takes over. No way in hell do I want to be drifting or sitting at the bottom in a lost submarine, listening to myself take a shit while staring down each of my fellow crew-members.

The pressure transient would knock you out if not kill you first. You wouldn't even have time to feel that water

Apparently they have 96 hours of air if the sub didn't implode. I wonder how many doodies the shitter was designed to hold? Things could get a bit dicey on day three.
June 19, 20232 yr Well, clearly it can reach the Titanic wreckage, I think the bigger question is the return. I think “reaching the Titanic” is a euphemism for “sinking”. Those folks got crushed like being in a black hole.

As in you need someone on the outside with a ratchet or wrench to open it up. Get caught in a current and surface 20 miles away from the ship, you could be looking out the porthole at that sweet, fresh outside. Yelling at the crew member for not having an emergency plan.

June 19, 20232 yr Was the sub using Starlink, or just the ship? I'm not up to speed about internet connections 10,000 feet below the ocean up to small orbiting satellites.
June 19, 20232 yr Has no one thought to call James Cameron yet? He's got a sub and I'm pretty sure he knows the way there. He'd have those fuckers high and dry by lunchtime.
