But how much water?

Water water everywhere, but not a drop to drink.

Just searching “Titanic” on Twitter…enjoying some of the random tweets:

In this day and age there's three of things uber-rich tourists need to stop wasting their money on.1. Climbing Mt. Everest2. Diving down to the #Titanic ...and until a viable civilian space station or Moon base isn't something that's strictly science fiction.3. Go to space.

I should probably try to find and watch that movie “Raise the Titanic” with Sir Alec Guinness, Richard Jordan 😮 and Jason Robards…I feel like I should see this.

Sounds like these people upgraded to the full experience package where you get to meet actual Titanic victims.

“Can you imagine what it must have been like for those trapped on board as it sank?”

Do we know if anyone on board was named Jack or Rose?  I think it would be funny if that is the case.  And sad, too.  But mostly funny.

Rose would steal all of the oxygen for herself and she’d have 184 hours of oxygen for herself

Images of the Titan submersible preparing for its dive to the #Titanic as well as images after it began it's dive. Coast Card says it had last communication 1 hour 45 minutes after this dive. (Images via Action Aviation/IG) #OceanGate #Titan #titanicsubmarine

That just looks doomed…

If only Gordon Lightfoot had lived a few more months. We could have gotten a song out of this.

There's a scene relevant to this thread.  You should check it out sometime; it's a decent Cold War flick.

I doubt it.  Noodling is really poor at those depths.

Fresh water only, bruh. If they had dropped the sub in Lake Eufaula, the noodlers would've saved the day like the Cajun Navy.

They mentioned how the sub  is secured from the outside. As in you need someone on the outside with a ratchet or wrench to open it up. Get caught in a current and surface 20 miles away from the ship, you could be looking out the porthole at that sweet, fresh outside. Yelling at the crew member for not having an emergency plan.

Hold up… you mean to tell me these folks are paying 250k for this trip, and they don’t even get to get out to stretch their legs and have a look around when they get there??

It's almost a Clancy novel in real life.

Yeah and It’s an Armageddon and The Abyss mash-up that actually happened. Cameron could do a great job with it, really surprised he hasn’t done it already.

Not going to life, while I have no desire to live on a farm my family has up there, if I had to move to Oklahoma for some reason and had a choice, it'd be somewhere on Lake Eufaula.  Fished there a lot over the years.

Whomever heard any part of that pitch, the video, saw the video game controller, then consciously paid $250k for a tourist expedition, absolutely deserves to die.

The same type of people who heard Steve Patterson’s pitch and paid him.

To be fair, I'd rather have Nolan handling it than Cameron.

maybe they packed snacks ?

since that thing is pretty much home made, why didn’t they attach some kind of emergency balloons to get them back to the surface ?

I guess they would still be fucked chickens since the hatch is bolted on from the outside.  Imagine if you somehow float up to the surface and then still suffocate.

If I was dumb enough to be in that thing, I'd like to think I'd be smart enough to start choking people if we got to the surface and nobody was around to open it up.

Did they bring the charger for the PlayStation controller?  Power comes back and the guys like oops I forgot the controller charger.  You’re not a very smart billionaire if you see that remote and get the tour and the guys like that’s from Home Depot, that’s Camping World and you’re like where do I signup.

Instead of doing all this bullshit, I would have taken their money, dropped the sub in some water, then pretend to go deep ocean when really it’s the windows showing a VR version of the Titanic wreckage. How would the people inside know? They’re stupid enough to pay $250K, they’re stupid enough to believe it.

Has no one thought to call James Cameron yet? He's got a sub and I'm pretty sure he knows the way there. He'd have those fuckers high and dry by lunchtime.

Life is actually stranger than art down there:

During an expedition in the Phoenix Islands, scientists from Schmidt Ocean Institute spotted this glass octopus, a nearly transparent species whose only visible features are its optic nerve, eyeballs & digestive tract [read more: https://t.co/I8NCgf9Wll]pic.twitter.com/qasMsexzlT
This beautiful marine creature spotted during a ROV dive by Schmidt Ocean in 2019 is actually a Planctoteuthis, a fragile deep-sea squid that has been very rarely observed [read more: https://t.co/TLo4kUvAmu]pic.twitter.com/7v5v7HpgZ4

You are basically describing the 20,000 leagues under the sea attraction at Disney- which has since been redone as a finding Nemo theme I believe.

Well, clearly it can reach the Titanic wreckage, I think the bigger question is the return.

Climbing Everest and taking subs down to the Titanic.

There’s not a black person on earth that is dumb enough to get in that homemade jalopy of a sub even if you paid them to go.

It's been described as basically a zip lock baggie / bucket system:

There is a small toilet in Titan’s front dome, the website continues. It “doubles as the best seat in the house. When the toilet is in use, we install a privacy curtain between the dome and the main compartment and turn the music up loud.”

Privacy screen... 4 people inches away... bad time for an upset stomach..
