She's 59 years old.  Right or wrong, unless you're a massive talent like Meryl Streep or Helen Mirren (and Hines most definitely is not), work is going to be hard to come by.

it will be interesting to see what happens if Larry does another season.

Happy Thanksgrifting from one of the comments.

The show runner recently said that Larry continues to outraged by his fellow man, and there's always a chance he'll decide to do another season.  He's got an open invitation at HBO to do whatever he wants.

How many will this asshole kill with his anti vax shit? If another covid type disease hits, I'm guessing we could get it as high as 10 million.

There was a woman at my church when I was a kid who was mostly paralyzed from childhood polio.  Sometimes we’d go to lunch at her place and my parents would “sit with her” back when people did that sort of thing. My dad would tell me about what polio used to do and be.

Preventing deadly/debilitating childhood diseases is for woke libtards. WAKE UP SHEEPLE!

I may be one of the only people on this site that actually thinks some of RFK Jr's ideas are good.  I am all for trying to take some of the chemicals out of our food supply and making the food we eat healthier.  I am all for ending Rx advertising on TV/radio.  That being said, the idea to stop vaccines like the polio vaccine is bat shit crazy and like many on here know, dangerous to all of us. Can't wait for the small pox parties in the future and every other horrible disease we have found ways to eradicate but I guess if we just stop relying on stupid shit like science and modern medicine, and just pray to Jesus that will take care of us.

There is a really great American Experience episode on polio and the terror it caused during the yearly outbreaks of it before the vaccine.  These stupid fucks should be required to watch in on loop Clockwork Orange style.

I don’t think you’re even close to being the only one. I’m guessing you would find a large majority on this board support both of the examples you cited as good ideas. I would be thrilled if he was able to push the Trump administration and Congress to pass legislation and implement policy that addresses both of those issues. The downside is that he supports some truly awful positions that would have a massive detrimental effect on the health of people in this country, in particular our most vulnerable and those that can’t vote. The downsides far outweigh the potential upsides so, despite having some positions that I can get onboard with, I think he’s a danger to this country and should not be confirmed.

Yes, there should be no benefit of the doubt that anyone in DJT’s orbit will do the good things and not do the crazy things.  There are any number of serious people DJT could have tapped to address food additives, Rx advertising, and even FDA regulatory capture without bringing in dangerous and unscientific ideology.

RFK Jr was chosen because he is crazy and dangerous, not in spite of it.

The problem is it sounds great but makes no sense. What does "take some of the chemicals out of our food supply" mean? Water is a chemical. Starch is a chemical. Manure as a fertilizer is a chemical (or a mix of chemicals really). If you want to discuss specific chemicals to take out then great, I'm all for it, but I haven't seen anything like that from him. It's just using chemical as a scary word to push through whatever pseudoscience he wants to push (and make money off of).

1 good idea doesn't outweigh 10 terrible ones.  Allowing raw milk, banning flouride and raising doubts about some of the best vaccines ever developed are catastrophically bad.  He is going to cause deaths if he enacts his nutjob ideas.

The thing is, we don't have to reinvent the wheel.  The EU has some pretty decent regulations on potentially harmful food additives.  We could just adopt those, and be done with it.  The United States is not the only country on the planet, we're not the only people to consider the question of chemical food additives.  Now, is that what he's proposing?  Almost certainly not, because he's a fucking crackpot.

But there is a non-crackpot approach to this that would be both good and easy.

And this.  Seriously.  Pasteurizing milk and developing and administering a variety of vaccines are some of the greatest achievements in human health, ever.  If you add "provide clean drinking water, and provide for the removal and treatment of sewage" to the list, and you've now listed the things most responsible for reducing human deaths in the entirety of human history.  Going after these things as "bad" is among the dumbest positions ever held by any human being.  Yet, here we are.

I am pretty sure he is proposing ideas similar to the EU.  He mentioned Europe how cereal has like 4 ingredients and here it has 20 most of which are not good for you.  I believe chemicals refers to food additives and not just chemicals or pesticides in our food which should also be addressed if we were an intelligent country.  Which we are not.

You are trying to find the positives with being diagnosed with cancer.  Sure you might die, but think of how much weight you'll lose during chemo!

RFK is the exact opposite of the "Gross knees, wnb that supermodel." He is the woman who has the most amazing knees you have ever seen (getting rid of Rx commercials and unhealthy chemicals in food), but is 400 lbs, has bad body odor, and is missing several teeth (you know, the "Make Polio Great Again" issue).

You're not THAT funny, Bob.

Maybe he gets through but most of his promises will be like trump’s promises.  Just a lot of talk and no action…which beats the alternative, in most cases.
Already bailing on his bigger promises before the inauguration…lower grocery prices?  Just kidding!

Negged for the stupidity. Nobody thinks "hey what if we promoted eating healthier food?" is a bad idea, except Republicans when a Democrat is the one proposing it. Promoting healthier eating is something federal and state governments have attempted to do for decades. Anybody with an above-room temperature IQ should know that's not what RFK is going to be spending his time on.

Emphasis for truth.

Sorry if we don't believe Republicans when they say "yeah, it's super important for government officials to promote eating healthier food" when they've spent the last 20 years relentlessly attacking any Democrat who even mentioned eating more vegetables.  Fuck that shit.  We don't believe lying hypocrites because....and follow me here, this is important...one shouldn't believe lying hypocrites.

He's a fucking idiot that doesn't really stand for anything. He spent the majority of his post heroin career championing environmental causes, and quickly abandoned it all by signing onto an administration that wants to gut/disband the EPA. He got butthurt that people with common sense saw him for the fucking crackpot that he is, and decided to join up with Trumps traveling circus of fucktards to gain legitimacy. I am looking forward to the inevitable breakup/fallout when he gets sideways with Trump, because Trump will have a lot of ammo, and RFK might just try to chainsaw Trump's head off and make a desk ornament out of it.

Seems odd to blame the Democrats for not fixing the system when the Republicans obviously have more interest in NOT fixing it.

Classic battered wife syndrome.  Why not blame the criminal instead of the victim?

Not really. If you claim to be for the common citizen and yet you allow corporate interests to run roughshod over one of the fundamental systems we have then yeah, it’s your own damn fault - especially when you know the otherside is the party of lip service for the commons and beholden to the oligarchs.

democrats had the working class vote - why did they lose it? Because they’ve been ineffective and Biden’s success came too late to make a difference.

but let’s keep blaming republicans for taking advantage.

Your take irritates me because Dems (read Hillary) in the 90’s began raising the flag about healthcare costs being too high, and she was rewarded by Rush demonizing her 24/7.

Obama and Joe got ACA in and spent much of their political capital doing so while the stupids watched foxnews as they demonized obamacare. Ted cruz built a career on his promise to overturn obamacare. ACA is the single most impactful legislation in my lifetime.

Dems have blown so much political capital on healthcare while the stupids turn on foxnews, talk shit on obamacare, and sign up for ACA without an ounce of self awareness.

The problem is the american populace is immeasurably stupid.

This.   Dems have to stop being on their back foot for their policies just because the right demonizes them due to "team".  It probably belongs in the New Democratic Platform thread, but I'd put at top or near top of list: "Stop Apologizing and Start Attacking."  People want to be hit over the head, not rationalized with.  Start hitting the stupids over the head with how this new administration is going to hurt them from day 1.  You'll never win over the racists and the christofascists whose single issue is fear of the other and abortion, respectively.  But there are stupids out there who don't fall into those two categories that voted for Trump and Obama.  Get them back.
